Following last year’s AEW Collision structure, the split occurs due to the NCAA March Madness tournament; we will get two one-hour Slam Dunk editions of AEW Collision. You can find the preview for the AEW Collision Slam Dunk Sunday here. With a combination of tag, trios, and singles action, we’re going to be treated to AEW’s range this weekend. Styles will clash across the card.

The Death Riders, Daniel Garcia and Claudio Castagnoli, are taking on Luchadores Kommander and Mascara Dorada. For Castagnoli, the CMLL World Heavyweight champion, there is familiarity with both opponents. Having clashed during the Continental Classic, both Mexican stars share the honour of beating the Swiss Superman. A possible upset could set up Castagnoli’s next title defence. Castagnoli has now signed a dual contract, making him a member of both the AEW and CMLL rosters.

Sisters of Sin vs. The Brawling Birds

Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor (pronounced Windsaaar! In Norfolk) have gelled extremely well. As personalities and characters, alongside in the ring, The Brawling Birds are so British, it’s awesome—more apples and pears than strawberries and cream. Banter and insults that mix various UK-based stereotypes, the Birds can kick anyone’s ass, it seems. They decimated the debuting Iinspiration, but now they face a well-established team in AEW.

However, this weekend they take on the Sisters of Sin, Skye Blue, and Julia Hart. Both women can give as well as take a kicking. In the case of Blue, we’ve seen she is ready to shed red and smile. As scream queens go, Skye Blue won’t freak out like Carrie White. Likewise, Julia Hart isn’t fragile. More Annabelle than Barbie, the former TBS Champion understands deception and cheap tricks. Neither twisted sister is going to go down easily.

The Brawling Birds’ first test might be a physical encounter and one where both faces need to keep their cool when the heels bend more than the rules. Yet in a contest where both teams are going to be swinging, don’t bet against the Birds.

TNT Championship: Student vs. Mentor

Kyle Fletcher defends Pinky against a man who knows him better than anyone else on the AEW roster. Better than Don Callis and the rest of the Don Calli Family. Better than Will Ospreay and possibly even Mark Davis.

Fletcher’s opponent, NJPW wrestler and member of TMDK, Robbie Eagles, is one of the folks who helped train The Protostar. Time has passed. Fletcher is in many respects a different human being from the way he was a year ago, let alone when he debuted over a decade ago. However, that knowledge of a less polished, more primitive Fletcher, and an understanding of the rookie and the man behind the cockiness will no doubt help Eagles.

In some ways, going back to the open challenge history of the TNT Championship, those uninitiated will be in for a treat with the PWA trainer. Besides Fletcher, Eagles has helped train a raft of other Australian stars, now and in the future, including three stars WWE invited to a tryout. Being a trainer is only part of Eagle’s repertoire.
