He started off the year in a tag team, winning matches, and having a good time.

It was looking like 2026 would be a great year for him. But when Tommaso Ciampa left and he started to lose, his smile gradually faded. He is now moping around backstage, with people wondering what could get him back to his normal self.

Could a trip to NXT be arranged in order to make him happy? Would a simple win be enough to change his mindset? On the March 6, 2026 SmackDown, he decided to call out anyone in the locker room for a fight.

Would a jobber come out to face him, or would his opponent make him regret his decision?

Oba Femi Makes Gargano Even More Miserable

For weeks, Gargano hasn’t been his normal self. It seemed like it would take something big in order to get him right. However, the solution turned out to be something simple.

His wife Candice LeRae gave him a pep talk, reminding him of the man he used to be in NXT. That’s why he came out to the ring with her Friday night.

He mentioned how her talk helped him remember who he was. Throughout the promo, he was energetic and ready for a match.

That’s why he issued an open challenge for anyone to face him. A familiar green glow appeared, meaning that his night was going to get way worse.

Out stepped Oba Femi, with the crowd chanting his name as he walked to the ring. He’s had dominant showings against Erik & Ivar, Kit Wilson, and just last week, the Miz. It’s clear that whoever’s in the ring with him is bound to feel a lot of pain.

Gargano wasn’t scared of him, as when the match began, he ran straight towards him. Femi picked him up, obviously looking to slam him to the ground. But he got out of the hold and started punching him.

That led to Femi clotheslining him to the ground. Femi then delivered running uppercuts to him in the corner of the ring. Instead of just one or two, he hit five of them on a defenseless Gargano.

He then threw him to the ground with a pup pup toss. Afterwards, he delivered the Fall from Grace for a quick cover and victory.

Photo Credit: By Jonathan Rivera – https://www.flickr.com/photos/202897796@N07/54556546687/, CC BY 2.0,

As he posed after the win, Gargano resumed lying down, clearly still looking for answers.
