Legendary WWE tag team Demolition has finally been announced as inductees for the WWE Hall of Fame 2026. <\/span><\/div>\n

The iconic team, who once held the WWE Tag Team Championship for 478 days, have been the subject of internet petitions to be bestowed with the honour for years. Ax and Smash will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during the ceremony in Las Vegas. They will join AJ Styles<\/a> and Stephanie McMahon.<\/span><\/div>\n

Ax and Smash were pure 80s\/90s wrestling stars. They were hard to miss with their Kiss-inspired facepaint and their Mad Max-style outfits. The outfits often left them being teased as looking like bondage gear. <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Their distinctive look and the popularity of Hasbro figures at the time meant Ax and Smash were two of the strangest action figures virtually every child owned. Demolition has also been\u00a0<\/span>confirmed as a DLC for WWE 2K26 as part of Ringside Pass Season 2. It will be their first appearance in the video games series since 2012.<\/div>\n

Randy Colley<\/span> (Smash) and <\/span>Bill Eadie<\/span> (Ax) created the Demolition <\/span>gimmick,<\/span> but Colley was soon replaced by Barry Darsow. A feature on Demolition will air on WWE Raw tonight.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n

Historic WWE Career\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Demolition arrived in WWE in 1987, where they tore through tag teams such as The Islanders, The Killer Bees, The British Bulldogs and The Rougeau Brothers as part of an impressive undefeated streak. <\/span>At WrestleMania IV, Demolition defeated Strike Force (Rick Martel and Tito Santana) to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. They held the titles for 478 days, with wins over The Heart Foundation, The Rockers, The Powers of Pain and Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. The latter team would end their historic reign at Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But their record would remain undefeated until the New Day bested the 478-day reign 28 years later. <\/span>Crush would join Ax and Smash in Demolition, but will not join them in the WWE Hall of Fame. Crush was brought in over fears Ax (Bill Eadie) would not be able to compete due to a shellfish allergy he picked up during a WWE tour of Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Why Has It Taken Demolition So Long To Be Honoured?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Ax was soon released from WWE and Crush, and Smash continued as Demolition. Various lawsuits took place, including Eadie attempting to gain the rights to the Demolition name.

WWE also prevented him from using the gimmick on the independents with original Smash Randy Colley. Eadie and Darsow were also named in a class action lawsuit against WWE, claiming wrestlers incurred traumatic brain injuries during their WWE tenure and that the company concealed the risks of injuries.<\/span><\/div>\n

The man behind Crush (Brian Adams) passed away in 2007.\u00a0<\/span>Last year, Demolition signed a WWE Legends deal<\/a> signalling the HoF induction could be in the not so distant future.<\/div>\n

Earlier this year, a reference during WWE Raw about Hiroshi Tanahashi led to speculation he could be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame<\/a> in 2026.<\/div>\n
