WWE\u2019s Elimination Chamber PLE has become a staple on the Road to WrestleMania. After the Royal Rumble winners have been set, a second number one contender is needed to round out the \u2018Mania card. That\u2019s where the Elimination Chamber comes in. It\u2019s a night when the titular match is used to give us more clarity on WrestleMania, with contender or championship matches being held within the Elimination Chamber.<\/p>\n

The Elimination Chamber is what draws the fans in, but that doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s the only great thing to take place. Throughout the history of the PLE, there have been some truly fantastic championship matches that had nothing to do with any gimmick. World Title Matches that were straight-up one-on-one encounters that were a great palate cleanser between Chamber matches. Below, we will examine the greatest of these matches.<\/p>\n

Roman Reigns vs Sami Zayn (WWE Undisputed Universal Championship Match; Elimination Chamber 2023)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

” Instant classic” is a term that gets thrown around a lot, but there is no other adjective to describe this match, the main event, Elimination Chamber 2023. It was a battle of a vicious heel against the hometown boy who was out for redemption. Sami Zayn had finally seen the light and went against the tyrannical Roman Reigns.<\/p>\n

The action was as expected with two of the best wrestlers in the company. It was compelling and played incredibly well into their story. This match was dripping with drama from start to finish, and it didn\u2019t hurt that the Montreal crowd was ravenous in their support for Sami Zayn. There is nothing to pick apart from this match. It was perfect from start to finish and was one of the best of the year.<\/p>\n

Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose (WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match; Elimination Chamber 2015)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose had a feud for the ages in 2015. Rollins was fresh off his epic backstabbing of his Shield brethren. He had become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania, and no one would have taken more joy in taking that away from him than his former running mate.<\/p>\n

The chemistry on display in this match shows exactly why every time these men stepped in the ring against one another, we got gold. They seemed to know what the other was going to do before they did, and this gave us incredible chain wrestling. It also allowed for a very intense story to unfold, even though the crowd was sitting on their hands the whole time. The only detractor was a DQ finish, but it allowed this great program to continue.<\/p>\n

The Rock vs CM Punk (WWE Championship Match; Elimination Chamber 2013) <\/strong><\/h2>\n

This was one of the more unexpected mini-programs to start 2013, but it was also a great one. The Rock and CM Punk were money on the stick and had the world eating out of the palms of their hands. Their Royal Rumble match was a great precursor to this contest that followed.<\/p>\n

CM Punk and The Rock had more momentum under their belts when this contest came around. They worked a very entertaining match, with the added stipulation that The Rock would lose the title if he were disqualified. It was a fun way to incorporate some uncertainty into the match, and it was played off well by both men, utilizing Paul Heyman and creative spots to injure the refs. In the end, The Rock walking away victorious was telegraphed, but this was a WWE Championship match that was more about the journey.<\/p>\n

Becky Lynch vs Lita (Raw Women\u2019s Championship Match; Elimination Chamber 2022)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Raw was light on title contenders in the early months of 2022. They were ramping up for a big match at WrestleMania, but needed something big to draw a crowd in the meantime. That\u2019s when WWE went down the nostalgic path and brought Lita back to challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women\u2019s Championship.<\/p>\n

Bringing Lita back was never a bad move by WWE. She had proven that she was still able to go and did pretty well, giving us a reason to watch their match. She and Becky matched up very well with their contrasting styles. Lita was still able to get some great high-flying moves in while Becky Lynch continued to assert her dominance as the Raw Women\u2019s Champion. It was also nice to see Lynch in a largely heel role, drawing further sympathy for Lita.<\/p>\n

As much as we knew that Lynch was going to walk away the winner, the false finishes were executed very well for this match. For a minute, we believed that Lita was going to ascend the mountain.<\/p>\n

Rhea Ripley vs Nia Jax (Women\u2019s World Championship Match; Elimination Chamber 2024)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Unstoppable Force versus the Immovable Object is an often-used trope in WWE. Mainly because it\u2019s an easy story to tell, and one that produces great visuals and, at worst, manageable matches. Rhea Ripley defending her Women\u2019s World Championship against Nia Jax is a great example of this.<\/p>\n

The display of power seen during this match was fantastic. Nia Jax was still a viable challenger to the World Championship, and she dominated most of the contest. This allowed the women to show more sympathy for the champion and create some uncertainty about whether she would retain the championship.<\/p>\n

Ripley was used to taking control of her matches, and she was thwarted by Jax at every turn. It was great to see Rhea Ripley in an underdog role that she was not used to.<\/p>\n

Being that it was a home country advantage, the Aussie crowd was solely in the corner of Rhea Ripley. They were fully invested in everything that took place and went nuts when she conquered Nia Jax. It was a telegraphed ending, but a great finish with Ripley hitting a riptide on Nia Jax\u2014a fitting match for the main event of Elimination Chamber.<\/p>\n
