Just over 10 minutes into the main event bout, Kamitani suffered a horrible hand injury that displaced her right middle finger. The Osaka crowd was stunned into silence as the ringside doctors carried out their assessment on the champion.

The assessment took a couple of minutes, and there were worries that the match would have to be stopped. This would’ve been an unexpected dramatic turn, as Starlight Kid would’ve emerged from Supreme Fight as the new World of STARDOM Champion. But with her fingers taped up, Kamitani bravely finished the match and defended her title in an impressive show of strength.

Having recently made history as the first woman ever to win the Tokyo Sports MVP award, her minor injury break will come as a huge blow to both Kamitani and STARDOM. And sadly, when it comes to injuries, when it rains, it very often pours.

Photo Credit: By Akagesan – Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=151376442

Suzu Suzuki, Saya Iida, and Bea Priestley join Kamitani on the Injury List

The trio of injured stars will also miss the February 13 event at Korakuen Hall.
