It was like Groundhog Day on NXT this week. Another promising high-flyer bridged the weight gap, as Eli Knight toppled Josh Briggs to advance to the final of the WWE Speed tournament. However, Knight wasn’t able to bask in the adoration of the Orlando crowd for long. WWE Speed Champion Jasper Troy, another locker room giant, swiftly reminded fans of the danger he presents.<\/p>\n
Whoever had the advantage heading into the first round match was a matter of opinion. Knight is an acrobatic young star with a familiar brand of fearlessness. His high altitude antics are reminiscent of NXT breakout Je’Von Evans<\/a>, who has just made the jump to the main roster. But Briggs brings experience. The former Evolve Champion is in his sixth year at WWE and possesses the power to really challenge Jasper Troy.<\/p>\n But Briggs’ strength and experience weren’t enough to stop a relentless Knight. The Reality of Wrestling star was tactically astute in his pursuit of the WWE Speed Championship. Knight used his aerial style to keep the powerful Briggs at bay constantly.
