Ultimately, Rollins clinched his second WWE Championship. However, Rollins’ joy was short-lived as Dean Ambrose cashed in his Money in the Bank contract.

Rollins’ title reign lasted just a couple of minutes with Ambrose dethroning him for the title, and it was a historical night for The Shield with all three former members holding the WWE Championship on the same night.

5. 2nd WWE Universal Championship Reign (2019)

The WWE Universal Championship match between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2019 was a rematch of their clash at WrestleMania 35. He retained the title against Strowman at Clash of Champions 2019, the same night they dropped the Tag Team Championship. However, Rollins entered a feud with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt.

Illogically, there wasn’t a clear-cut winner in their Hell in a Cell match for the title. They had a decent match, and Rollins kick-started his first Universal Championship reign. However, the underwhelming factor of Rollins’ first time around as the Universal Champion was his poor feud with Baron Corbin.

No one believed that Corbin was going to dethrone Rollins for the title. Their matches spanned across three PPVs, including a mixed tag team match for Rollins’ Universal Championship and his wife Becky Lynch’s WWE (RAW) Women’s Championship against Corbin and Lacey Evans. However, the highlight of Rollins’ Universal Championship reign was his title match with AJ Styles at Money in the Bank 2019.

Nevertheless, karma hit Rollins as, for the second time, he fell victim to a Money in the Bank cash-in to Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules 2019. After CM Punk defeated Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship, he appeared with his crutches alongside Paul Heyman.

An “injured” Rollins dropped the crutches, and the crowd popped.
