McIntyre rolls into SmackDown with a grand entrance, as bagpipe players would play him into the ring. McIntyre basked in the glory, taking his sweet time going to the ring. Once in the ring, Drew talked about the cheers and outpouring of messages as he won the WWE Title, and to that, McIntyre says “screw you,” airing his grievances and calling out the WWE Universe. The new champion asked where they were when he was fired, when he was embroiled with The Bloodline, or when he was with CM Punk? McIntyre thanked himself and no one but, saying the “Vanilla QB1” era of WWE is now over and the “Dangerous and Unpredictable Drew McIntyre” era begins now. The “Viper” Randy Orton would then interrupt the new champion, saying he’s not there to congratulate Drew but to warn him that he’s still looking for revenge and to win his 15th title. Before Drew could reply, the returning Jacob Fatu would march to the ring. Fatu would assault McIntyre all over the ring before Drew would hightail it out of Wembley Arena. The Miz would take advantage of the situation, blindsiding Orton and hitting him with a Skull-Crushing Finale.

For the first bit of action tonight, The Miz and Randy Orton go at it in a qualifying match for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIII. Miz had the advantage early on after sneak attacking Orton, even hitting him with a Back Suplex on the announcer’s desk. Orton would then regain momentum, showing Miz how it’s done, hitting him with three consecutive Back Suplexes on the table. After a Draping DDT, Orton would go for the RKO, only for The Miz to counter with a Skull-Crushing Finale. Orton would kick out, and Miz would scramble, going for a School Boy. Once again, Randy would kick out and catch Miz with an RKO out of nowhere, advancing to the Fatal 4-Way Match.

Backstage, we see a reeling Drew McIntyre confronted by Ilja Dragunov. McIntyre would end this conversation quickly, saying Dragunov needs to win his qualifying match and at SNME so that he can kick his face in. Meanwhile, in a video package, The Wyatt Sicks issued a warning that things are far from over between them and MFT. We see Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair working through their issues, looking to get back on the right track. As usual, Nia Jax, along with Lash Legend, tried to put a rift between Bliss and Flair, and the Queen did not fall for it one bit.

The #AndNEW Women’s United States Champion, Giulia, teams up with Kiana James as they take on Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair in tag team action. James and Giulia dominated most of the match, isolating Bliss. Alexa would muster the strength to tag in Charlotte, and that’s when things turned around. Giulia and Kiana would not backdown, with the champion even hitting the Arrivederci Knee at some point. While Bliss and Flair were former tag champions, it was a rocky time for them. That said, they still came out with a win when Kiana would blindtag Giulia, leading to Bliss catching her with the Sister Abigail DDT for the win. Post-match, Nia Jax and Lash Legend would decimate Bliss and Flair, even getting in the face of Giulia.

A week after losing the Undisputed WWE Championship, Cody Rhodes speaks to the WWE Universe for the first time. Rhodes made statements about his future and what he hoped to achieve, vowing he’ll win back the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Matt Cardona takes on Trick Williams in the second qualifying match of the night. Williams was on fire tonight, but Cardona would not go away easily. Late in the match, Trick would hit the Trick Kick and go for a Book End, only to get countered by Cardona. Matt would go for the Rough Ryder, but Trick had one more thing up his sleeve, hitting a Pounce. Trick would size up Cardona, then hit the Trick Shot to advance to the Fatal 4-Way. After the match, Kit Wilson would strut to the ring, assaulting Matt Cardona.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley would catch up with Damian Priest, with the “Archer of Infamy” stating that he intends to advance to WWE SNME and is even willing to take on the MFT by himself if need be.

Still in the ring, Kit Wilson spoke to the WWE Universe, saying that he was right and the world needs reassurance and leadership, and that’s why they need him. Wilson told the crowd he was the tonic to toxic masculinity before Jacob Fatu would re-enter the arena, brutalizing Wilson with a kick and a senton, ending with a Mighty Moonsault. Fatu got on the mic, addressing Cody Rhodes, challenging him to get into the ring if he had anything to say to him. The two would get into a massive brawl. The two exchanged potatoes before WWE officials, and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis separated them. Rhodes would get loose, jumping on Fatu again as the two tried to tear each other apart.

With The Wyatt Sicks’ “guiding light” in hand, Solo Sikoa takes on Damian Priest for the penultimate qualifying match of the evening. As most expected, these two got into a massive monster mash brawl, with the two unloading absolute bombs on one another. MFT was a huge determining factor in this one, as Priest would be in a position to win, only to get screwed over by MFT distractions. Even as Priest hit Razor’s Edge, Sikoa would have enough time to kick out. Sikoa would get his bearings back, hitting a Solo Slam, followed by a Splash for a near-fall. Before Solo could capitalize further, the lights would go out, and out appears The Wyatt Sicks behind MFT, leading to a fight on the outside, and leaving Sikoa alone with Uncle Howdy. Howdy went for the lantern, only to be met by Sikoa. Priest would capitalize on this, hitting Sikoa with the South of Heaven and becoming the third man in the 4-way at SNME.

United States Champion Carmelo Hayes defends the gold in this week’s U.S. Open Challenge. A TNA Wrestling star would answer the call. Hayes was against the ropes a number of times in this match, but Melo managed to retain after executing an Avalanche Cutter for the win, the same move he used to dethrone Ilja Dragunov.

After beating Alba Fyre on last week’s SmackDown in Germany, Jordynne Grace takes on the head of the Green Regime, Chelsea Green. At ringside, WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill took a seat, looking to scout the competition. Green had little to no chance, despite having Fyre by her side and causing a ton of distractions. Jordynne would overpower Green, leading to a variation of the Death Valley Driver, which she calls the Direct Effect. After the bout, Jordynne put Jade Cargill on notice, urging her to come into the ring and to find out what’s coming for her. With Cargill on the apron, Green would charge to cheapshot Jordynne, but Grace would sidestep, and Green would hit Jade. Jordynne would hoist up the title, making it clear what she’s after.

In the main event of the evening, Ilja Dragunov and Sami fight it out for the final slot in the Fatal 4-Way Match to crown the number one contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Zayn would outlast Dragunov after a physically demanding match, ending this night in London with a Helluva Kick. Unfortunately, Trick Williams had other plans, making another statement as SmackDown this week closes with the sight of a battered Sami at the hands of Trick Williams.

That’s all for LIVE WWE SmackDown spoilers and results as they happened in London, England, on January 16th, 2026.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on WWE SmackDown spoilers and results in London and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
