While many storylines were completed, many more were started or started their next chapter. The fallout from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World\u2019s End<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will not only close out 2025 but also set the foundation for how AEW moves forward in 2026.\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only will the first couple of months of AEW television be dedicated to the decisions made at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World\u2019s End<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but so will the first pay-per-view of the year, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution has become one of AEW&#8217;s biggest annual PPVs, and it seems to deliver every year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200bHow will the fallout from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World\u2019s End <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">affect Maximum Carnage, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the first quarter of 2026 of AEW? Here are the top six storylines out of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World\u2019s End<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that will affect All Elite Wrestling moving forward in 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>MJF&#8217;s 2nd Title Reign: How It Sets the Tone for 2026<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maxwell Jacob Friedman is now a two-time AEW World Champion. MJF survived a hellacious four-way match to reclaim the BBB. AEW is in a time of transition. A lot of new eyes are on the product, and they are on the precipice of reaching a new level of popularity. MJF is, at this moment, the biggest crossover star. It makes sense that 2026 will start with an MJF title reign. If 2025 was the year of the main character, 2026 will be the year of the main antagonist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200bWe don&#8217;t have to read a fantasy book to find his first opponent. It&#8217;s already been determined that Bandido&#8211;by winning the Dynamite Diamond Gold ring&#8211; will be having his first title defense at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maximum Carnage<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on January 14th. It&#8217;s hard to imagine MJF having a short title reign, so having Bandido beat him isn&#8217;t likely. So, who is expected to feud with the salt of the earth in 2026 for the title?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200bDo Swerve Strickland and Adam Page get shots at the title? Does a returning Jay White FINALLY get his run at a title? Do they make Konosuke Takeshita a double World Champion in two major promotions? What about Kyle Fletcher? So much meat on this title reign bone that we can sink our teeth into.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2><b>Where is Samoa Joe, \u201cHangman\u201d Adam Page, and Swerve Strickland Headed On the Way to AEW <\/b><b>Revolution?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All three of these former AEW World Champions are the next hurdles for MJF in his second title reign. The only question that remains is if there will be hurdles <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">before <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Samoa Joe has openly discussed retirement in some interviews. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tony Khan wanted to do him a solid and give him one last major championship reign before that happens. Joe will more than likely exercise his rematch clause, but his chances of winning are slim to none. He won&#8217;t be at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swerve is going to be a champion again, and it&#8217;s a matter of when, not if. The best scenario for Swerve to win the title would be for him to get his <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All In <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">moment and win his title there. Out of the three who are listed in the four-way match, he is the last to confront MJF. The entire reason MJF cashed in his title shot at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World\u2019s End <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was to beat Hangman for the title and do it in front of his two biggest nemesis. He wanted to hurt the Cowboys, and Page won&#8217;t take that lying down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2><b>Jon Moxley Wins CC and is NOT a Babyface, What Now?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cJackson, Tyson, Jordan, Game 6.\u201d Jay Z can now add John Moxley in big matches to that lyric.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If Hangman Page is the main character of AEW, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2025\/12\/29\/how-aew-and-the-2025-continental-classic-saved-jon-moxley\/\" target=\"_self\">then Moxley is the heart and soul<\/a>. AEW is nowhere near where it is today without Mox. He is the blood that pumps through the company. It was awe-inspiring to see the journey through the tournament with the looming threat of the Death Riders turning on him. Now that that is behind him, how can they possibly add to his story now that he is a full-fledged babyface again?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moxley, famous for never taking a break, will undoubtedly be at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> defending the Continental title. Who will that be against? It won&#8217;t be against Kazuchika Okada, as he will be too busy feuding with Konosuke Takeshita. Is this finally where the Death Riders take on the Don Callis Faily in gang warfare? However, I think that there was a reason why it was teased that the Death Riders might turn on him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200bTony Khan and creative teased the Death Riders turning on him for months. There has to be a payoff. Can this new angle of Moxley thinking AEW saved contradict what the rest of the Death Riders believe? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would be the perfect place to explore that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2><b>Where Does Mercedes Mone Go From Here?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mercedes Mone is officially on her downward spiral. She has lost two of her 13 titles and has been pinned twice while teaming up with Athena. While everyone saw this part of the story coming, what we didn&#8217;t see is that the TBS title is next to go. Will Mone lose the TBS title before the rest of her titles? The immediate future for Mone will be one of the most interesting stories in professional wrestling over the next two to three months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How many titles does Mercedes lose between now and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is it just the TBS title, or does she continue to make her tour and lose them all back? It will be intriguing ot see how far Mone falls before getting her <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All In<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regardless of whether she retains or loses her TBS title, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is going to be he Mercedes and Athena. The Fallen Goddess feels as though Mercedes has let her down. She also remembers that Mercedes beat her in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament for a shot at the AEW Women\u2019s Championship. With all of those things considered, Mercedes versus Athena is the big match we are getting at the next pay-per-view.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2><b>The Don Callis Family is Falling Apart\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where does the Don Callis Family go from here? The three major stars from that stable all lost at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World\u2019s End,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Kazuchika Okada seems to have burned the bridge between all three. The rivalry between Okada and Konosuke Takeshita looks to be the next big rivalry in AEW. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The only question remains if it concludes at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revolution <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All In<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Kyle Fletcher will also look to have a piece of Okada, taking that screwdriver, \u201cscrewed\u201d Fletcher out of a Continental Classic win.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200bHowever, Fletcher is not&#8211; at least not yet&#8211; the babyface that Takeshita is now after <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World\u2019s End<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Takeshita was the first member of the Family, and he will be the one to destroy it. He won&#8217;t be alone. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kenny Omega will come back to put the nail in the coffin of the stable. However, there is still one major player about to return: Andrade. That is where Omega clashes with the Don Callis Family once again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It all starts and ends with the rivalry between Takeshita and Okada. The two are going to carry AEW for the first half of 2026, and we could see the start of that at New Year\u2019s Smash.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2><b>Who&#8217;s Next for Kris Statlander?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kris Statlander has supplemented herself as a legitimate AEW World Champion. It wasn&#8217;t an easy task to follow \u201cTimeless\u201d Toni Storm, and Statlander has worked hard to make her title reign legitimate. Now the question is: Who is the next person to take on the Alien? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It won&#8217;t be Mercedes \u2014 for reasons mentioned above \u2014and it won&#8217;t be Willow either (yet). Could this be the return of the dentist? Britt Baker is still signed with AEW, and Tony Khan has stated he has been looking for the best time to bring her back to the company. This could be the perfect opportunity for Kris Statlander vs. Britt Baker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If it&#8217;s not Baker, it might be time to give the Death Rider, Marina Shafir, a shot at the title.
