The women’s world title picture is so strong that stalwarts and future WWE Hall of Famers, Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair didn’t even hold a women’s world championship in 2025. For sure, they featured in title matches, but they’ve featured heavily in the women’s tag team division, giving that division a much-needed boost.

RELATED: Every Men’s WWE World Champion In 2025, Ranked

The WWE Women’s Championship on SmackDown just had three titleholders. Furthermore, three women clinched their first women’s world championships in 2025. The storylines captivated the audience with some fascinating matches and plot twists.

With the creation of the WWE Women’s Intercontinental and WWE Women’s United States Championships, more opportunities were presented for women. Gone are the days of women’s matches being treated as the proverbial toilet break. Nevertheless, the Women’s World Champions who ruled their respective brands had a mixture of memorable and underwhelming title reigns.

8. The 2025 Queen of the Ring winner failed to dethrone Tiffany Stratton for the title at SummerSlam 2025. However, it proved to be the right call as months later, Cargill found her calling by attacking Stratton and becoming a heel.

The Storm overpowered Stratton on the November 1, 2025 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event to become the new WWE Women’s Champion. Nevertheless, Cargill’s maiden reign currently lasts 57 days, but she’s yet to defend the WWE Women’s Championship. Time will tell if Cargill can handle the pressure of holding the title, as she has a lot of critics to prove wrong.

7. Nia Jax

Despite not featuring at WrestleMania 40, 2024 was a resurgent year for Nia Jax. The Irresistible Force went on a tear post-WrestleMania, resulting in Jax winning the 2024 Queen of the Ring tournament. Unlike Cargill, Jax managed to convert her Queen of the Ring triumph into gold. She dethroned Bayley at SummerSlam 2024 to become a two-time WWE Women’s Champion. Her first world title run in six years.

Jax’s Women’s Championship reign was steady, and her final two title defenses were on SmackDown’s January 3, 2025, episode. She overcame Naomi in an outstanding championship match. However, Jax was always vulnerable despite Ms. Money in the Bank, Tiffany Stratton being her ally, and Stratton put herself first.

She cashed in her Money in the Bank contract, successfully ending her former friend’s 153-day stranglehold on the WWE Women’s Championship.

6. Liv Morgan

Unquestionably, Liv Morgan was WWE’s female wrestler of the year in 2024. Her Revenge Tour was complete after she regained the Women’s World Championship from Becky Lynch at King and Queen of the Ring 2024 in Saudi Arabia.

She won the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship after beating the Women’s Champion Nia Jax at Crown Jewel 2024. However, her rivalry with Rhea Ripley continued from SummerSlam 2024 right until the premiere episode of Raw on Netflix on January 6, 2025.

Morgan joined the Judgment Day, replacing Ripley, and Raquel Rodriguez returned at Bad Blood 2024 to be by Liv’s side. Liv walked in 2025 as the Women’s World Champion. However, she dropped the Women’s World Championship to Ripley, who handed Morgan her first pinfall loss in 10 months.

Liv returned to WWE after five months on the sidelines with an injury at Survivor Series 2025, and she’ll be seeking to recapture the Women’s World Championship again.

5. Stephanie Vaquer

2025 has seen the rise of Stephanie Vaquer. “La Primera” thrived in NXT, and she was a double champion at one point by holding the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s North American Championship simultaneously. Nevertheless, Vaquer called up from NXT to Raw, and she’s looked right at home. Vaquer was the beneficiary of Naomi’s pregnancy as the Women’s World Championship became vacant.

Vaquer saw off IYO SKY for the vacant Women’s World Championship at Wrestlepalooza. At Crown Jewel 2025, Vaquer beat Tiffany Stratton to become the second WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Champion.

Vaquer’s lived up to her reputation as a fighting Women’s World Champion. She’s retained the title against Raquel Rodriguez twice and beat WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella in their showdown at Survivor Series 2025.

She may not walk out of 2025 as the Women’s World Champion (at the time of writing) as she’s defending the title against Raquel and Nikki in a triple threat match. Her title reign hasn’t set the world alight as of yet, as many are waiting for Vaquer’s feuds with big hitters such as Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, and Becky Lynch, a few names to boot.

4. Naomi

It was pure cinema at Elimination Chamber 2025 when Jade Cargill attacked Naomi, unveiling Naomi as her assailant. Naomi’s heel turn was long-awaited, and her “Proceed with Caution” catchphrase caught on with fans.

Naomi won the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, and it was nailed on that she’d target the WWE Women’s Championship. However, Naomi lost to Cargill again at Evolution 2025, but that wasn’t Naomi’s final act of the night.

Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky battled over the Women’s World Championship, with the contest poised. Naomi cashed in her women’s Money in the Bank briefcase, catching both women off guard. She captured her third Women’s World Championship, ending her eight-year drought.

Naomi’s title reign was cooking as she beat Ripley and Sky in another triple threat match at SummerSlam 2025. However, she had a scheduled title defense against Sky on Raw and Vaquer at Clash in Paris, but the match failed to materialize. Naomi announced her pregnancy, causing her title reign to halt prematurely.

3. Nevertheless, similar to her nemesis Liv Morgan’s revenge tour, Ripley was after the title she never lost.

The Eradicator failed to beat Liv for the title at SummerSlam as Dominik Mysterio betrayed her for Liv. Raquel cost her a chance for the title at Bad Blood 2024.

Inevitably, Ripley was going to recapture the Women’s World Championship from Liv Morgan. She defended the title on January 25, 2025, at Saturday Night’s Main Event against a familiar foe, Nia Jax.

However, Ripley looked set to enter WrestleMania 41 as the Women’s World Champion for the second consecutive year. Iyo Sky had different ideas and stunned Ripley on Raw’s March 3, 2025, episode, with Ripley’s reign lasting eight weeks.

2. Sky’s Women’s World Championship reign fired on all cylinders.

She had banger after banger. Her successful title defense against Ripley and Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 41 is a five-star epic and arguably WWE’s match of the year.

Photo Credit: By Sarah Bellia – Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=165083578

Surprisingly, after WrestleMania, SKY didn’t defend the Women’s World Championship for three months. WWE’s resident Barbie thrived as the WWE Women’s Champion and arguably had the strongest title reign in 2025. Stratton held the WWE Women’s Championship for 302 days.

Stratton’s match with 14-time world champion Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 41 was bitterly disappointing. Nevertheless, Stratton retained the Women’s Championship against the likes of Bayley, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, Jade Cargill, and Nia Jax.
