He has been one of the most important wrestlers of WWE in the past few years, whether it’s working as a fan-favorite babyface or just being the most egotistical heel out there.

For a lot of fans, Rollins has always been a better heel than a babyface. Seth himself thinks that being a bad guy is “easier” in wrestling. But why is that the case?

Seth Rollins Says Being A Bad Guy Is Easy Because Fans Complain About Everything

On the Games with Names podcast, Seth Rollins said that it’s easier to be a heel because fans hate just about anything. People are more vocal about things they don’t like because that’s what gets them engagement. Here’s what he said:

“It’s much easier in 2025 to be a bad guy than it is to be a good guy. Because everybody wants to hate everything. That’s what they all want to do. No one wants to get online and talk about how much they love something because no one cares. They just want to get online and b**ch about anything they can find. They want to complain about anything. So it’s so easy to troll people, to mess with people. It’s so easy to just get people to hate you. It’s like, you can do no wrong as a bad guy. You can screw up left and right. You can mess up your promos. You can screw up in the ring. Doesn’t matter. They’ll boo you for it, and then you’re gold.”

In a way, Rollins isn’t wrong either. Some fans nitpick everything, and those are usually the kind of discussions people see online as well.

Later in the podcast, Rollins also discussed a new trend in modern wrestling. Think of someone like Dominik Mysterio. He’s a heel and generates a lot of heat from the fans as well. But unlike wrestlers from the past, where fans genuinely despised certain characters, people actually enjoy seeing Dominik.

Even though he’s a bad guy, Mysterio is popular than a lot of babyfaces in the company right now. Rollins shared his thoughts on this:

“The thing that’s different is that our audience nowadays is so intelligent that they know you’re playing a character. If you do that too well, then they start to like you and so you [start] losing the ability to [be a] heel.”

If you use any quotes from this article, please credit Games with Names and provide an H/T to LastWordOnSports.com.

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on Seth Rollins and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
