The reason why Sheamus is ranked low on this list is that Cena didn’t eliminate Sheamus. Cena’s next opportunity at the gold was in a triple threat steel cage match at Extreme Rules 2011. Miz’s former tag team partner, John Morrison, was also involved in the proceedings.

The triple threat match was competitive, and there was some good action in the match. Nevertheless, Cena defeated the Mexican Aristocrat at Night of Champions 2011 to become the WWE Champion for the 10th time. Still, Cena’s reign lasted just two weeks, with Del Rio recapturing the title in a triple threat Hell in a Cell match.

A couple of years later, Cena returned to in-ring competition at Hell in a Cell 2013. Moreover, Styles bested Cena in their two previous encounters at Money in the Bank 2016 and SummerSlam 2016. However, Cena relishes a challenge, and a record-equaling 16th world title reign was in his sights.

Unquestionably, Cena and Styles’ WWE Championship match stole the show. Furthermore, Cena didn’t let it slide at WrestleMania 29; he gained revenge.

Cena beat both Edge and Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship in a triple threat match. Cena and Edge’s rivalry culminated weeks later in a Last Man Standing match at Backlash 2009.
