After nearly one month of competition in the John Cena “The Last Time is Now” Tournament to determine the final match opponent of John Cena in WWE at Saturday Night’s Main Event<\/a> on December 13, 2025, the field was down to the two best men in this gauntlet: LA Knight and Gunther.<\/p>\n

On WWE Friday Night SmackDown<\/a>, Knight and the “Ring General” fought like there was a championship at stake, and quite frankly, being the last match of John Cena in WWE probably mirrors winning the big one in North America’s biggest promotion.<\/p>\n

Since 2002, Cena has reigned supreme over WWE, carrying the company on his back and providing countless matches and unforgettable memories that people will always cherish forever. Now, the “Never Seen 17” will take a bow, and his final opponent will be Gunther.<\/p>\n

It was smash-mouth wrestling at its finest. When most thought Gunther was going to go over LA Knight very easily, the “Megastar” had other plans. On more than one occasion, Knight almost had Gunther’s number, hitting him with everything he’s got.<\/p>\n

The Megastar Elbow, his patented DDT, BFT, as well as even an Attitude Adjustment, paying tribute to the “G.O.A.T.” himself, LA Knight, pulled everything out. Unfortunately, Gunther was too powerful for even the former United States Champion to overcome.<\/p>\n

After a flurry of offense from Knight, Gunther would catch him with a Rear-Naked Choke. Knight would fight out of it. Gunther would once again overpower, now locking him in a Modified STF, clearly a message to John Cena. Knight would try to hold on for as long as possible, but he eventually needed to submit. Gunther would tell everyone that he told them so, and he gets to prove it at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event<\/a>.<\/p>\n

WWE Universe, it’s official, the final match and opponent of John Cena’s illustrious career will be against the “Ring General” himself, Gunther.<\/p>\n
