John Cena and Vince McMahon always maintained a close relationship with each other. A few years back, Vince got blackballed from WWE, and many stars publicly distanced themselves from him. Even then, Cena spent time with him on his 80th birthday<\/a> and always spoke highly of him publicly. This earned him a lot of heat from wrestling fans, but Cena has still maintained his stance on this.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Bill Simmons<\/a>,\u00a0John Cena discussed various things from his WWE run. Vince McMahon was also part of this discussion, and at one point, Simmons asked Cena if he thought WWE could function without Vince in the office. Here’s what he said.<\/p>\n

John Cena Says He Never Wanted Vince McMahon To Leave WWE<\/h2>\n

John Cena started by saying yes, WWE would work without Vince McMahon in charge. He loves Vince and never wanted him to leave, but he was always taught by him that nobody is irreplaceable.<\/p>\n

“Bill Simmons: Did you ever think the WWE could survive and thrive without Vince after seeing all the things that he did?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

John Cena: So, of all the things he did and of all the things he taught me, one piece that was very important is that no one is irreplaceable, and that\u2019s the truth. The one thing that needs to stand firm is the consumer\u2019s belief in what we do, and Vince has so much knowledge.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I think what\u2019s happened is unfortunate because you have this individual with so much depth of field who can still offer things, and we no longer can pull from that well, but it doesn\u2019t mean we don\u2019t have able bodied folks who can\u2019t put on creative programming.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I never wanted Vince to go because I love him and I know how much he loves the business, but he taught me, \u2018We\u2019re all going to go. All of us.\u2019 And he taught me that not through saying, [but] through his actions. I was there the day he fired Stone Cold. Missed a date, gotta go. His biggest attraction. [Quoting Vince] \u2018I gotta let people know this isn\u2019t okay.\u2019 Things happen, we gotta let people know this isn\u2019t okay. \u2018It\u2019s time for you to go.\u2019 Everybody goes. So because of his words… yeah.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
