A cold wind settles over Atlanta, Georgia, as AEW Dynamite presents Winter is Coming. With more Continental Classic action and two huge championship matches, expect the crowd to be hot and tempers inside the Gateway Center Arena to rise.<\/p>\n

No matches are confirmed for round 3 of the Continental Classic at the time of writing, so keep checking back for updates. Yet confirmed with graphics are Samoa Joe\u2019s first AEW World Championship defense and the finals to crown the inaugural AEW Women\u2019s World Tag Team Champions.<\/p>\n

As one of AEW\u2019s first Dynamite specials and with a history of great moments, expect the 2025 edition to live up to tradition.<\/p>\n

Samoa Joe vs. Eddie Kingston <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Fans were impatient to see Eddie Kingston return to the main event scene. Some initial frustration that Kingston was placed into a tag team with HOOK was warranted. Slotting Kingston into an entrenched pattern of flight-path booking we\u2019ve seen before with the Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil<\/a> felt wrong. Hindsight shows this was by design.<\/p>\n

Now, two passionate promos later, on one Collision and then face-to-face against Samoa Joe this past Wednesday, has made fans want what they\u2019ve always wanted: give Kingston the belt! Joe has become someone unrecognisable. Kingston crystallised this by calling out that this is not the Samoan Submission Machine that saved the indies.<\/p>\n

This version of Samoa Joe, who gets on a private jet to come to events, isn\u2019t the same legend of ROH infamy. This isn\u2019t the same brutal monster who went to war with Necro Butcher, Homicide, or others. If that Joe doesn\u2019t appear on Wednesday, Kingston is going to eat this punk alive.<\/p>\n

Yet can Kingston deliver on his words? As Joe pointed out, Kingston has a lot to say about himself and potential and demons. Although Kingston held the ROH World Championship and his own triple crown, that version of Kingston felt like cosplay, rather than the conflicted Mad King we love. For Kingston, this match is as much about proving his capability post-injury as it is about the championship.<\/p>\n

Can Kingston still be the man we want him to be?<\/p>\n

Crowning the Inaugural AEW Women\u2019s World Tag Team Champions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

History awaits one pair of women. Two beloved babyface teams have fought their way to the finals to compete for the honor of being the first-ever AEW Women\u2019s World Tag Team Champions. Once again, AEW delivered an incredible tournament. Once again, the AEW women\u2019s division smashed the assignment out of the park.<\/p>\n

This match might split the crowd between two very deserving teams. On the one hand, the Babes of Wrath have maximised their minutes. Willow Nightingale, in action and backstage segments, has added layers to her always-smiling persona. Harley Cameron, always maximising every second,<\/a> remains an underdog waiting for that huge, significant championship victory.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, I\u2019m glad to prove wrong in my earlier assessment that \u201cTimeless\u201d Toni Storm should not have another championship run so soon. <\/a>Alongside Mina Shirakawa, the pair\u2019s chemistry, characterization, and abilities in the ring are emotive and continue the sapphic love dynamic created with Mariah May<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s skipping ahead to the result. As for the action, the dynamic is going to be different. Surely no one’s getting booed in this one. Expect a physical, passionate, and at times humorous match. Story-driven with intense action, are the winners going to steal the show, not just the new championships?<\/p>\n
