Gunther, Jey Uso, LA Knight, and Solo Sikoa battled for a spot in the finals on Friday. Gunther and LA Knight were victorious and will now meet for a chance to face John Cena.

But the biggest story coming out of the tournament didn’t come from the winners. What happened after one of the matches was shocking and out of character for someone. After losing to Knight, Uso took the loss horribly.

He completely melted down in the worst way. Banging his head on the table, throwing the steel steps onto the floor, and knocking over the Prime bottles while pushing over the drink cart. It was an embarrassing display from a popular wrestler. Was the meltdown justified, or does he have some growing up to do?

Uso Knows He Disappointed Everyone

This year has undoubtedly been a breakout year for Jey Uso in many different ways. He started the year by winning the Men’s Royal Rumble match. That win led to a 51-day reign as World Heavyweight Champion, his second singles title. He had held the Intercontinental Championship for 27 days last fall.

Since that time, he has gotten over his catchphrase “YEET!” and has great audience participation during his entrance. He knows how much everyone believes in him, which is why he’s taking the loss so personally.

His anger didn’t come from out of nowhere, nor does he have an anger problem. He knows the majority of the fans wanted him to advance to the Last Time is Now tournament finals. The loss ensured that it didn’t happen. Given the lofty expectations put on him, his massive meltdown after the loss was justified.

A Veteran Shouldn’t Have That Big of a Meltdown

Uso is one of the longest tenured wrestlers on the main roster. He debuted in 2010, with May 24 marking 16 years on the main roster barring a shocking release. Since that time, countless things have changed, including wrestlers, announcers, titles, and others. He’s also 40 years old, making him one of the oldest wrestlers in the company. There’s no excuse for him to be throwing things around.

A child does that when they don’t get something they wanted. A 40-year-old man doing that is embarrassing, and it makes the whole Anoa’i family look bad. However, he did say that he blames himself for the loss. It seems that he is crumbling under the pressure of being a true main event talent. If this is how he’s going to react to high expectations, maybe he should seriously think about chasing high-profile achievements.

Will This Be a Lesson Learned for Him?

Right now, everything is crumbling around Uso. His fans saw him have a colossal meltdown, his family probably isn’t happy about his behavior, and he isn’t going to the finals. Things have to change for him. The first step is to fix his attitude. Some people might say the meltdown was justified, but what happens if he loses again in a high-profile match? Will he throw everything in sight, or will he calm down and accept his loss?

His behavior was very out of character, seemingly indicating he is cracking under the weight of the expectations put on him.
