Expect the Mad King to have a lot to say in his first Dynamite promo since returning from injury.

The three big Continental Classic matches on offer promise some big banger action and potential story development for a faction that, in 2025, has been omnipresent and previously the most divisive stable in AEW. More on this shortly.

Kyle Fletcher vs. Kevin Knight will be a showcase of AEW’s future. Kazuchika Okada takes on PAC in a rematch that must do more than live up to their explosive Continental Championship match from Dynasty 2024. The Rainmaker is 0-1 and can’t afford to take it easy with PAC in his current form. Speaking of Death Riders…

Continental Classic – Death Riders Collide

For weeks, even months, AEW fans have been patiently waiting for the signs of disillusionment within the Death Riders. Last week, Jon Moxley did not, in fact, take another successive loss after losing, tapping twice to Kyle O’Reilly in ten days. The Death Rider leader gained a much-needed victory. Yet looking at the numbers, Moxley feels like the underdog when he faces Claudio Castagnoli.

By comparison, Castagnoli defeated another Conglomeration lynchpin, Orange Cassidy, twice in a month. Likewise, Castagnoli, the Swiss Superman and human horse, feels like he’s in peak form. Castagnoli seems to be rising, whereas Moxley appears fragile and at risk of fracturing. It feels like the lieutenant could outshine and defeat the captain. Or so it seems.

Moxley’s character knows how to fight out of corners. Moxley knows how to fight dirty, with or without his support. Mascara Dorada discovered this last week. Moxley may be about to put Castagnoli in his place. Or will Castagnoli, who has repeatedly picked up Moxley like a sack of spuds and pulled him out of the fray, realise his superiority? Is the turn happening, or will clear signs of growth be visible?

Hardcore Holiday Death Match

The finale of the inaugural women’s Blood and Guts may only have served as a prelude for another “Timeless” Toni Storm snuff film. After winning the 4-way tag team match at Full Gear, Storm made it clear to Moxley and her cavewoman daughter the stipulation for this week’s match.

Unlike Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir, Timeless Love Bombs don’t operate on hate and fear. They use the power of love… for hardcore violence! Christmas comes early for us sickos! No tags, no count outs, no disqualifications. Just a (*Toni Storm impression) death match!

All four women know how to use weapons. They each know how to inflict hurt and creatively rip opponents to pieces. Yet the promise of a death match implies more…

Storm, more than any other woman in AEW, knows about death, but also rebirth. Will the finals be an all-lovies affair with Storm and Shirakawa taking on the Babes of Wrath? Or will Bayne and Shafir, low on tag reps but highly destructive and effective, give the Timeless Love Bombs a little death?

AEW Dynamite Hardcore Holiday Match Card:

Continental Classic Blue League, Round 2- Jon Moxley (1-0) vs. Claudio Castagnoli (1-0)

Continental Classic Gold League, Round 2- Kazuchika Okada (0-1) vs. PAC (1-0)

Continental Classic Gold League, Round 2: Kyle Fletcher (1-0) vs. Kevin Knight (1-0)

Hardcore Holiday Death Match: “Timeless” Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa vs. Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir

AEW Dynamite Segments Announced:

Samoa Joe goes face-to-face with Eddie Kingston

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – AEW – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on AEW Dynamite preview and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
