While many are amazing, a few are okay, and a select handful are just the worst. Today, we’ll take a look at the absolute worst Women’s Survivor Series Matches and tell you why. W

e will be ranking them from best to worst, and all the participants from each match. For this article, I actually had to sit through every one of these matches, so you didn’t have to. I feel like I deserve some compensation for doing so, but nevertheless, here’s the list!

3. Total Divas vs. True Divas

Participants: The Bella Twins, Eva Marie, The Funkadactyls, Natalya, and JoJo vs. Aksana, Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes, Summer Rae, Tamina Snuka, Kaitlyn, and AJ Lee.

The Match:

This match is LOADED with competitors, with each team having seven participants. Which is already too many, and makes it lose points almost immediately. The match could’ve easily been a traditional 5-on-5, with two women from each team being valets. Naomi starts things off against Alicia Fox, and almost immediately,

Fox is eliminated, despite an early offense. Naomi tags in Cameron to double team Rosa Mendes, who quickly evens the odds by eliminating Cameron off a trip into the turnbuckle. Mendes immediately gets eliminated by a Bella Buster from Nikki Bella. Bella also eliminates Summer Rae after a mid-match dance battle with one kick, which didn’t look very impactful.

Do you see a pattern here? Almost every elimination happens after a participant takes one move, which is botched half the time. This match is definitely more for filling time in the show and to showcase the visual appeal of the women involved.

Many of the participants in this match are limited, including Mendes, Rae, Marie, Aksana, and Jojo, who wasn’t even a wrestler! She was a ring announcer! Brie Bella and Kaitlyn had one of the very, very few highlights of the match. Having a surprisingly decent back-and-forth off of Kaitlyn’s momentum after she eliminated two members of Team Total Divas.

However, that momentum was almost immediately killed after Bella eliminated her with a missile dropkick. Brie is then eliminated by Aksana, who, in turn, pays the price at the hands of Nikki. It’s not until a little over halfway through the match that this contest has anything positive at all.

The Very Little Highlights:

Another very small highlight of this match was the in-ring storytelling told between Nikki Bella, Jojo, and Tamina Snuka. I actually appreciate how WWE played into her lack of experience, and Nikki’s hesitance to even tag her in, despite her being the only member available, was great. Jojo actually manages to pull off a near-fall by rolling Tamina up, which was the only part of her section that wasn’t botched or screwy.

Another small highlight was the character work of AJ Lee and Tamina Snuka. After a Samoan Drop on Jojo, Snuka doesn’t go for the pin and instead tags in AJ, who skips around her and pins her. This small bit of character work really does go to great lengths, as it shows just how devoted Snuka was to AJ at this time in her career.

Natalya, who Michael Cole miscalls as the “sole survivor of her team” (she’s not; Nikki Bella is on the floor outside), has a decent showing against Snuka and Lee. Natalya and Snuka square off in nothing of note, until Snuka goes high for a splash but then misses.

She then uses this to lock in the Sharpshooter. Snuka then taps out just before AJ can break it up, which is hard to catch if you’re not watching carefully. Natalya then also submits AJ after Bella prevented Snuka from causing a distraction. Another slight positive was Brie Bella’s gear; it was so cute.

Rating:

Although this match had far too many people, not enough time, and more than half of the participants being just horrible, it was okay-ish towards the end, and had some good storytelling.

Overall, I give it a 2.5/5, because this match was also just a product of its time, and it doesn’t deserve to have points knocked off for that. You can watch the match here!

2. Team Mickie James vs. Michelle McCool

Participants: Mickie James, Melina, Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres, and Gail Kim vs. Michelle McCool, Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix, and Jillian

The Match:

Kelly Kelly starts against Layla. Kelly shows off her athleticism here, which was nice, considering it was hindered for most of her career. However, it was short-lived as an ineffective leg drop to the back of Layla’s head gave her an elimination. This elimination did take me out of the match for a bit. Both teams switch opponents, with Gail Kim taking on Michelle McCool. This small exchange was one of my favorites.

I will go further in-depth below, but it was short-lived, as is a theme with these matches. McCool eliminates Kim, and in comes Eve Torres. McCool decides to tag in Jillian, and after some horrible offense from Jillian, Eve picks up the upper hand. She moves off of Jillian’s shoulders and hits a kick that…doesn’t connect! Jillian decides to sell it, and commentary even compliments it, what in the world!?

Eve eliminates Jillian after a botched avalanche Sunset Flip, as Jillian was standing too far from the ropes for it to look quite right

ht. Beth Phoenix then comes in, only hits her finish, and eliminates Eve. I hate this theme of people only being eliminated after one move, and I want it to end, but it doesn’t, yay!! However, it is shortly broken up after Beth hits an astounding two moves, and then eliminates Kelly Kelly. Way to go, Beth! Mickie James then enters the match for the first time, halfway through.

She uses her rapid, energetic style to pull off a shock elimination, rolling up Phoenix. Phoenix then uses her pent-up anger to attack Mickie with one move. The longest stretch of the match was between Mickie James and Alicia Fox. It was for sure sloppy at times, but not horrible. Mickie eliminates Foxy and then scores a hot tag to Melina after being beaten down by McCool. Melina then scores the win for the team after a Sunset Flip.

The Even Fewer Positives:

All ten women in this match share 40 title reigns, which I appreciate. Despite the low standard of this time, all the women were actual wrestlers with actual experience. They didn’t look great, but not as bad as you’d expect. This match happened in 2009, when both the original Women’s Championship and the Diva’s Championship were being defended. Seeing both titles here was cool.

As I stated above, Gail Kim and Michelle McCool had an actually good exchange. It highlighted Kim’s flexibility and McCool’s power, but it was short-lived. McCool eliminated Kim with a Faith Breaker, or a Style’s Clash. A dig at Kim’s TNA run, maybe.

Rating:

This match suffered due to its lack of time, and its over-reliance on the theme of ‘one move, and you’re gone’ trope. It’s overarching Piggy James storyline, which was a controversial storyline where Lay-Cool bullied Mickie James over her weight, left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, a 1.5/5. It’s not worth your time, but here’s the full match in case you’re interested.

1. AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella – Divas Title Match

The Match:

This match inspired my idea to create this article. At 34 seconds, this match is truly the worst Women’s Survivor Series match ever. Every year, I am unfortunately reminded of this match, and this year is no different. I hate this match with a passion, and you should too.

It is the ultimate testament to the objectification of women in WWE before the recent Women’s Revolution. It also degraded any remaining legacy, heritage, or history the Divas Championship had at this point. AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella at Survivor Series 2014 is my personal least favorite match of all time.

I remember being a young girl, watching this match. I was so excited to see my favorite, Nikki Bella (I was a kid, okay?), try to win AJ Lee’s championship in an epic battle. Only for Brie Bella to kiss AJ Lee while holding the belt, and Nikki to use that to win. After a bad forearm and even worse Rack Attack, Nikki Bella becomes the new Divas Champion.

Rating:

I genuinely don’t understand how this match is still uploaded onto WWE’s official YouTube channel, and it’s misleading. The entire video is a minute and seven seconds, which includes the post-match celebration, which is LONGER than the actual match!

Commentary mentions how this was a call-back to when AJ cost Daniel Bryan the World Championship against Sheamus, losing in 18 seconds. However, that actually served a storyline purpose, and was the catalyst in AJ and Daniel’s breakup.

At the same time, this serves no further purpose other than to get a cheap reaction from the crowd! Lastly, it makes zero sense as to why Brie would be upset about that, as she and Daniel were not kayfabe together at that point! I don’t get it!

This match is genuinely, honestly, despicable down to its core, and it is such a whiplash when you realize one of the best Survivor Series matches ever happened on this same night. Team Cena vs. Team Authority, you have my heart, and I rewatch it every Thanksgiving. This slop fest, however, haunts me in my sleep.

-100000000/5.

Do you agree with my list?
