He enlisted Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa to become his own Bloodline. As a group, they had lots of accomplishments. Fatu and Sikoa held the WWE United States Championship, while Tama and Tonga were WWE Tag Team Champions. Things were looking good for the group. However, the past couple of months have seen their relevance fade.

Kicking out Fatu and adding JC Mateo and Talla Tonga surely was going to take them over the top. However, Sikoa is getting the shine, and the others are just there. Especially with Mateo and Tonga, given their history in Japan, fans haven’t been too fond of them as of late. Will the four men who make up Sikoa’s MFT step out of the shadows, or are they just lackeys?

MFT is Waiting for Sikoa to Fail

For years, the same thing that’s happening now happened with the original Bloodline. Roman Reigns held the majority of the spotlight in the group. Things were getting stale, and then Reigns started to crack. Tensions rose, then everyone left at specific points. Of course, they get back together at particular points without Sikoa. But things got interesting when tension arose. Right now, Sikoa and MFT are feuding with Sami Zayn and friends, with the Wyatt Sicks looking on.

Having them defeat Zayn but fail to conquer the Wyatts could lead to MFT doubting him. Everyone knows how Mateo, Talla, Tama, and Tonga performed in New Japan Pro Wrestling. A lot of hype came from their fans when they signed with WWE. But they haven’t performed to that level because Sikoa is the star. Getting away from him could be what they need to break out in WWE.

They Were Brought in to Be Lackeys

When the four arrived to back up Sikoa, non-WWE fans and fans who watch more than WWE were excited. All of them had lots of NJPW lore coming with them to the company. That seems nice, but the decades of experience could be really telling. Talla is the only one out of the four who isn’t in his 40s. Even though they just got to WWE in the past year, they’re all in the top half of the men’s roster age bracket.

People might bring up LA Knight, but he’s an exception who said himself that he was in danger of being cut several times. Looking at their ages could very well prove the lackey allegations right. They were also conveniently brought in to associate with Sikoa after he became the leader. All the signs point to the fact that they’ll be nothing more than Sikoa’s helpers.

What Will Their Legacy Be?

The four men called MFT have immense legacies in Japan, becoming household names and winning many championships. However, they have yet to have that much of an impact in WWE. They could just be waiting for things to crack with Sikoa. So far, they have been winning and loyal to him at all times. Since Fatu left, he has gone to become a nice singles star. Maybe that’s what will get them to the next level.

But Fatu is 33, younger than all of them. He’s just entering his prime. They had their prime in another company. There is a good reason for people to believe that MFTs are just going to be Sikoa’s lackeys while they’re here. He is getting elevated while they just help. The next couple of months will be important, as what they do going forward will show everyone who they are in WWE.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on MFT and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
