Only three appearances remain in his farewell tour, and “The Last Time is Now” Tournament has begun to determine Cena’s final opponent.

As overwhelming as this final chapter will be for the Cenation, there are several happy memories to revisit during this farewell tour. Over the last 12 months, Cena has stayed true to his promise and laid everything on the line in the squared circle. During this time, he has achieved five incredible milestones that have further cemented his legacy as “The Greatest of All Time.”

5. Tied for Most Elimination Chamber Wins

The Leader of the Cenation stepped inside the Elimination Chamber for the final time in Toronto. John Cena was the runner-up in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match, and this was his final chance to book his ticket to a World Championship match at WrestleMania 41.

The Champ was up against a stacked all-star field featuring CM Punk, Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest. Cena’s methods of winning were questionable as he capitalized on a fallen Punk, who had just been stomped into oblivion by Rollins. He locked in the STF on Punk to win the match and secure his ticket to a Mania title showdown against Cody Rhodes.

However, it was the aftermath that had everyone talking. In what many have called the most shocking heel turn in WWE history, John Cena sold his soul to The Rock, the Final Boss, and brutally assaulted Cody Rhodes. After more than two decades, The Champ had finally embraced the dark side.

Nonetheless, despite questionable tactics and a shocking aftermath, Cena accomplished an important milestone at Elimination Chamber 2025 as he tied Triple H for most wins inside the Chamber with four victories.

#4. Became “The Never Seen 17” at WrestleMania 41

The heel turn proved to be a controversial decision, but it did yield dividends for John Cena. Cena’s new villainous persona provided a stark contrast to Cody Rhodes’ natural babyface aura. This played into the closing moments of their WWE Championship showdown at WrestleMania 41: Night Two.

Rhodes had neutralized Travis Scott, but the referee was still down. Cena wanted to blast The American Nightmare with the title, but the champion caught him, and a tug-of-war ensued. Rhodes snatched the title away from the challenger, who feigned a change of heart. However, Cena had fully embraced his wrongdoings and struck his opponent with a low blow.

Photo Credit: By Sarah Bellia – Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0,

Cena smashed Rhodes’ skull with the title and covered him to win his 17th World Title. The match was underwhelming, and the celebration was far from a feel-good moment. Nonetheless, this was The Champ’s first singles win in nearly 7 years. Thus, the dirty tactics made sense.

With 17 World Titles to his name, John Cena had overtaken Ric Flair and rewritten the history books. Won 100th PLE match

Considering this was his final year as an active competitor, John Cena was a focal point in most PLEs (Premium Live Events) throughout 2025. In fact, The Champ main evented 6 PLEs, including the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match and the Men’s Elimination Chamber bout.

During this time, he bagged important victories over prolific competitors like Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Logan Paul, and AJ Styles. Won the Title That Eluded Him For Most of His Career

The United States Championship is credited as John Cena’s launchpad, as Cena won the title multiple times during the first few years of his WWE career. Following WrestleMania 21, The Champ became a mainstay in the main event scene, which led him to multiple World Championships.

Along the way, he has also had a few odd Tag Team Championship reigns, which were usually part of his major singles feuds. However, the prestigious Intercontinental Championship, the workhorse title, eluded him throughout his career.

Fortunately, that changed during his final appearance in Boston on November 11. Dominik Mysterio, the previous IC Champion, interrupted Cena’s emotional address to his hometown, which eventually led to Triple H booking a one-on-one encounter between Dom and Cena for the IC Title.

After a well-paced and memorable bout, Cena pinned Dom to win his first IC Championship, sending Boston into a frenzy.
