Three matches will see which sides get the additional man/woman advantage during the initial phase of the dangerous double-steel cage match.

At present, the men’s battle stands at 1-1. Claudio Castagnoli and Darby Allin brought a W to their respective teams. Now it falls to the deciding match. The women’s babyface team are 0-1 down to their opponents. Megan Bayne scored the victory over the last-minute substitute, Mina Shirakawa. Shirakawa replaces Queen Aminata also in the Blood and Guts due to injury. The heels might be able to wrap up the series with a clean sweep.

The women stole the show in the Inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Tournament. Shirakawa and Bayne added to the case for why AEW presently has one of the strongest women’s locker rooms in North America. Saturday night, where the women are used to shining, could see them steal the show again, making up for the storyline deficiencies of their Blood and Guts match compared with their male counterparts.

Saturday night’s alright for fighting.

Jon Moxley vs. Roderick Strong

When Jon Moxley clashes with Roderick Strong, there’s a sense of unease in the air for the Death Riders’ leader. In the previous weeks, against Strong’s partner, Kyle O’Reilly, Moxley was visibly shaken. Close to tapping and unable to get the job done, a draw with a countout followed a DQ loss.

Darby Allin has exposed a weakness that has always lingered in Moxley’s Death Rider persona. One that, even during a period of fan malaise and disinterest, Moxley has always been a hypocrite, yet Moxley is a dangerous and potentially lethal hypocrite. An animal capable of damaging men and careers.

This is a rematch from September, which Moxley won, with a bit of assistance/distraction from Strong’s wife and Death Rider’s enforcer, Mariana Shafir. It is only the 2nd singles match ever between these two hard-hitting, physical wrestlers. With a clear story and the potential for an upset or character development for both men, we’re going to find out what each man is made of.

Can Strong accomplish what O’Reilly can’t, creating more tension between the pair? Or will Moxley regain at least some (possibly temporary) authority?

Women’s Advantage Battle Concludes

When Jamie Hayter takes on Skye Blue, it will be the pair’s fourth singles match. In the previous three, the Brit Hayter-aided her way to a clean sweep. Yet most recently, it was Skye, along with her Sister of Sin partner Julia Hart, with a victory over Hayter and Aminata in the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament.

We know Skye and Hayter have chemistry. However, will it be a clean sweep or a clean contest? As seen on Dynamite, it’s not like either side is going to watch backstage from the monitors.

If we go to the tie-breaker, we get a clash of contrasting personalities, styles, and experiences with Thekla vs. Harley Cameron. Cameron is riding the momentum of a huge victory and pinned the Forever ROH Women’s champion, Athena from Dynamite, but that was in tag team action. This is singles action against the Toxic Spider.

Cameron is used to being out of her depth and not showing it. Whether due to ignorance, confidence or madness, the Australian never seems phased by her opponent’s size or ability. It’s never stopped the crowd from being behind the underdog.

AEW Collision Matches Announced

Match 2 for the women: Jamie Hayter vs. Skye Blue

Match 3 for the men: Roderick Strong vs. Jon Moxley

Match 3 for the women, if necessary: Harley Cameron vs. Thekla

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – AEW – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on AEW Collision Preview and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
