Meanwhile, Troy showed his strength, squashing TNA’s Zachary Wentz with time to spare.

Spanish Speedster Axiom Looks to Overcome LFG Winner Jasper Troy

Axiom presented a similar problem to the powerhouse Troy, and as the bell rang, the former NXT tag team champion brought the energy. A few palm strikes and leg kicks from Axiom showed a clear focus on breaking down Troy’s vertical base. Like last week’s encounter with Wentz, though, Troy’s power was his cheat code. Despite Axiom’s speed and agility, his offense was having very little effect on an unflappable Troy.

Axiom and The LFG Season One winner traded submissions, but both escaped each other’s clutches as the seconds melted away. The match entered the final minute, and Troy glanced at the clock. The realization that a title opportunity was slipping from his grasp clicked, and Troy shifted gears. After grounding Axiom with a clothesline, Troy quickly followed up with a slam. Whipping the battered Axiom into the ropes in the bout’s final seconds, Troy landed his Sidewalk Slam to claim victory in the match and the men’s tournament.

Jasper Troy’s victory sets up a championship match with El Grande Americano, with the bout set for the November 11th episode of NXT. This is the first time the Men’s WWE Speed Championship has been defended since the division migrated from X. El Grande Americano is the title’s fourth holder, having held the title since May. Should Americano beat Troy, his reign will likely pass the 200-day mark. Americano’s reign is already the longest in the championship’s history, having passed previous champion Dragon Lee’s benchmark last week.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on WWE Speed and other news stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
