Guessing which wrestler is going to win on an AEW pay-per-view can be quite the task. In most of these matches, a case can be made for either wrestler or team to win. Darby Allin vs Jon Moxley run it back in an “I Quit” match where either man winning makes sense. The same goes for the Brodido vs Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada tag team match and the “500k match” between the Young Bucks and Jungle Express.

As we head towards the end of the year, it will be interesting to see who emerges on top and if new champions will emerge as we enter the final stretch. However, that is why I am here to not only tell you WHO wins, but also WHY. Why a wrestler wins is the best part of any match, and I’m here to tell you why that makes the most sense.

AEW Men’s World Championship: “Hangman” Adam Page vs Samoa Joe

Winner: “Hangman” Adam Page

Why: Adam Hangman Page vs Samoa Joe is the perfect “in-between” program for the champion. It’s a masterclass in wrestling storytelling. “Why do you want to fight me? Because I don’t respect you and I’m better.” Nothing is more real-life than that. Joe feels like a “final boss” and a significant hurdle Hangman needs to clear to not only win the locker room over, but be the face of the company.

Photo by grenwail, CC BY 2.0 via Wikimedia Commons

Hangman is not only trying to beat Joe to prove to him that he is the rightful face of the company. But in some small way, Hangman is doing it for himself. This win over Samoa Joe, a living legend, will add a notch to his cowboy belt. This match will be a stopgap between Kyle Fletcher and the next big challenge. The ultimate prize will be Joe shaking the Hangman’s hand at the end of the match and earning his respect.

AEW Women’s World Championship: Kris Statlander vs “Timeless” Toni Storm

Winner: Kris Statlander

Why: Kris Statlander having a short title reign would be a crime. It’s unbelievable that after six years, Statlander’s first AEW title campaign is only a month long. That is why Stat winning is secure; the question we should be asking ourselves is how she’ll win. Is this where the AEW women’s champion turns heel? I think that is still in the cards. Turning the champion heel would be a good way to keep the title on her and keep Storm as a strong challenger. It could also give Storm the excuse for her long, deserved break from the ring.

Or, all of that can be nothing, and Statlander beating Toni Storm straight up to build her as a strong champion. Either way, the build-up to this has been fantastic, and you know this is going to be a physical, extraordinary match.

“I Quit” Match: Jon Moxley vs Darby Allin

Winner: Jon Moxley

Why: This one is a real toss-up. Creatively, both wrestlers have a strong case to win. AEW has set this up perfectly. They have told us that neither man is going to quit. What is the likely outcome then? For sure, we know that this will be one of the most, if not the most, violent and bloody matches the company has ever put on. Both wrestlers love to bleed and throw themselves around. You should put the kids to bed for this one.

Ultimately, the winner will be Moxley. The Death Riders just got their second wind as a unit. That would end with a Moxley loss. Allin will be made to look strong by literally not being able to say “I quit” because he will be unconscious. How will that happen? Except something bigger than the ladder/glass spot from Revolution 2024. Allin will get his moment, just like Hangman did. It just won’t be at Wrestledream.

#AEWWrestleDream
LIVE on HBO Max PPV
8pm ET/5pm PT
Tomorrow, 10/18!

I Quit Match@DarbyAllin vs @JonMoxley

Darby made it clear that he’ll never stop until Mox has nothing left! However, Kyle Fletcher has won the last two matches while Mark Briscoe won the first two. Fletcher is on such a hot run at the moment that taking the title off him seems like malpractice. Considering he just lost to Hangman at All Out, it isn’t logical to return to that program so quickly. Briscoe bought himself some extended time to win a title after beating MJF last month. So while we all want Briscoe to win a title, it won’t be at WrestleDream vs Fletcher.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Brodido vs Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada

Winner: Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada

Why: As much as it pains me to say, Brodido loses this match. AEW is gonna do the ultimate “Can they coexist?” storyline with Okada and Takeshita. They are starting to pave the road for the inevitable match between the two at Wrestle Kingdom. AEW creative really leaned into Bandido’s injured shoulder, which will undoubtedly play a part in the match.

This tag team title match has the potential to be an all-timer. Four of the world’s current best wrestlers are in this match. That is the recipe for success. Brodido turned a patched-up tag team into a crowd favorite and anything but a transitional champion. However, the time has come for Takeshita to start as a babyface.

Thekla vs Jamie Hayter

Winner: Thekla

Why: An unbelievable stat, this is the first Pay-Per-View match not involving a stipulation or a title on the line for a women’s 1v1 match since 2022. That match was Saraya taking on Britt Baker at Full Gear 2022. Based on her presentation and the amount of time she spends on the microphone, I believe this is Thekla’s match. It looks like she is on to bigger and better things. A win versus a former World Champion can bolster her resume. Not only that, but with Blood and Guts around the corner, the heel stable will need the momentum.

#AEWWrestleDream
HBOMax PPV
8pm ET/5pm PT
Tomorrow, 10/18!@Toxic_Thekla vs @jmehytr

When the unbeaten Thekla arrived in AEW, she attacked former Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter, putting Hayter out for months.
They’ll fight 1-on-1 at WrestleDream, TOMORROW! pic.twitter.com/PSeRM7LqYj

— All Elite Wrestling (@AEW) October 17, 2025

“5ook Match: Young Bucks vs Jurassic Express

Winner: Jurassic Express

Why: Having Jack Perry and Luchasaurus win their first PPV match since returning would be a feel-good moment and would continue to build on the Kenny Omega/Jack Perry story they want to build on. There is a risk of driving the “Broke Bucks” story to the ground, but Jurassic Express winning is the right call. However, if done right, I don’t think the two brothers have quite yet hit rock bottom.
