The Michael Elgin<\/strong> situation took a turn this week when he filed a lawsuit against “Moses Malone” (Twitter handle), the woman who accused Elgin of allegedly covering up a sexual assault against her by one of his former students<\/a>, then spent the past few months releasing DMs from him to her and other people that put Elgin in a bad light, bad mouthing and trash talking her (as well as her claims) as well as disparaging remarks about his then NJPW World Tag League partner Jeff Cobb<\/strong>. On February 15, PWPonderings received a statement<\/a> from Elgin’s lawyer confirming that the lawsuit was currently in motion.<\/p>\n

Michael Elgin has filed suit against an individual who has defamed him and<\/strong><\/em>
\nwrongfully invaded his privacy, according to the petition filed in the Warren County, Missouri,\u00a0Circuit Court on February 9th. Elgin, whose legal name is Aaron Frobel, has sued a wrestling fan\u00a0who uses the name \u201cMoses Malone\u201d on Twitter, claiming that she has lied about the nature of their\u00a0relationship, falsely stated that he is \u201cabusive\u201d and a \u201cpredator,\u201d and falsely stated that he engaged\u00a0in a \u201ccover-up\u201d of a sexual assault. The lawsuit also alleges that Malone, whose real name is XXXXXX<\/strong>\u00a0(real name removed by LWOPW), has placed him in a false light by wrongly associating his name with\u00a0men who sexually assault women and in opposition to the \u201cMe Too\u201d movement, and publicly\u00a0disclosed private facts.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is really unfortunate it has come to this,\u201d said Elgin\u2019s lawyer, Steven Kratky. \u201cSome claims\u00a0Ms. XXXXX is making about my client are flat-out lies and misleading falsehoods. Mike really\u00a0struggled with this decision, but ultimately realized that he had no other choice to conclusively\u00a0establish the truth and clear his name,\u201d he continued. Kratky went on to say that all other attempts\u00a0to set the record straight had failed, and that his client is not motivated by money. \u201cLook, Mike is\u00a0only suing to establish the truth: that he is not an abuser, did not abuse Ms. XXXXX, and did\u00a0not cover-up a sexual assault,\u201d Kratky said. \u201cThe only way to properly do that is through the\u00a0judicial process, and Mike looks forward to that and putting this whole sad business behind him.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

This all happened while another incident occured this week surrounding Elgin’s alleged actions, when Powerbomb.tv<\/strong> parted ways with co-founder Adam Lash<\/strong> following internal issues over whether to air an upcoming IWA Mid South<\/strong> event that featured Michael Elgin on the card. It also comes days after it was reported that Michael Elgin had signed a new 2-year contract with NJPW.<\/p>\n

It took another spin tonight at the AAW Showdown<\/strong><\/em> event, when Michael Elgin was an unannounced special guest on the card, that is being headlined by Sami Callihan<\/strong> vs. NJPW star Tetsuya Naito<\/strong>. Twitter exploded when it was revealed and by all accounts, the crowd turned loud and volatile against Elgin upon his appearance, chanting “F**k Big Mike”. According to some eye witness accounts, portions of the audience turned their back to the match that Elgin took part in, a loss to Myron Reed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
