Nick told Cutler that he was going to spend some money at the Hard Rock Casino. Surprisingly, Nick lost all their money in the establishment once Matt came back.

Kenny Omega & BroDido (Brody King & Bandido) defeated The Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson) & Josh Alexander

(Spectacular return for Omega after taking some time off following the 2300 Arena shows. If he wanted, he could slot in well in trios action alongside BroDido.)

Due to their previous segment, the Bucks’ name graphic read: “The Broke Bucks.”

Omega locked up with Alexander, leading to the latter escaping the former’s grasp atop his shoulders. Bandido would later coordinate with Omega to lay out the Bucks. They then attempted to get King to do this Macarena-esque dance. Alexander, back in the ring, suffered King’s full weight following a slam by Bandido. The Bucks took control, using their legs and jumps to keep everyone horizontal. Intercepting Omega, Alexander coordinated with the Bucks to quell his momentum.

King rescued Omega from the Bucks to a hot tag, and Bandido joined in the fun. Alexander caught Bandido mid-air, dropping him to the ring apron. Omega planted the Bucks’ nether regions on the top rope and followed suit with a Terminator Dive. Don Callis skedaddled seeing Omega approach him. Nick survived Bandido’s 21-plex. They aimed for a Piledriver on Bandido, but his partners came to the save—all three landed a synchronized piledriver on their foes.

Alexander hurled Omega around the ring in a series of German suplexes. He struggled with King, however, so the Bucks assisted with a superkick to send the giant hurtling. Nick and Matt set Omega for a Driver, but did not count on King coming in for the save. Omega sent them away with a Snapdragon Suplex each. Blasting Alexander with a V-Trigger, the Best Bout Machine hit another and ended the match with his patented One-Winged Angel for the pinfall.

Post-match: Jurassic Express Battle, and Andrade El Idolo Returned

Omega and the Bucks seemingly looked ready to make amends. Alexander put this situation to bed, assaulting Omega. Jurassic Express’s music hit as Jack Perry and Luchasaurus trekked to the ring. Luchasaurus hit the Bucks with a double-chokeslam. Perry kneed Alexander so Omega could throw him with a Snapdragon Suplex. Omega and Perry argued, the former still irate over the former Jungle Boy’s alliance with The Elite. Jurassic Express brawled Alexander and the Bucks toward the back.

Omega cut a promo thanking the AEW fans for the 6 years of loyalty. He also thanked the new fans and did his “goodbye and goodnight” routine when the lights went dark. Back in the light, a man wearing a suit took off his black mask, revealing recent WWE-departee Andrade El Idolo. He knocked Omega out and aligned with an ecstatic Don Callis.

Mark Briscoe backstage promo

Still vengeful over MJF’s treatment of him over the past few months, Briscoe celebrated the fact that he got his due comeuppance. He also touted the love and respect among him and his Conglomeration members.

Kyle Fletcher (c) defeated Orange Cassidy for the TNT Championship

(A great slot for Cassidy. Tenured and beloved enough, he could return to take this loss and not suffer at all. Fletcher, in turn, gained from trouncing an AEW original in a time where loyal talent are being outright rewarded for their efforts.)

Cassidy began his usual routine of aloof attitude, but his shenanigans faltered upon a failed roll-up. Baiting Fletcher to the outside, Cassidy stole a temporary comeback, broken by an errant kick from the champion. Though he got the better of Cassidy, Fletcher was showered with “You still suck” chants. Hands in pockets, Cassidy made a red-faced and spirited resurgence. Tornado-DDT flung Fletcher to the center of the ring. Fletcher thwarted a second Tornado-DDT attempt, yet two counter DDTs nearly ended his reign.

The two battled between a Beach Break and a piledriver, which seesawed into roll-ups. Fletcher swiftly followed with a Spinning Tombstone. Hoping to send the challenger down with a vertical suplex, Fletcher dropped to Stundog Millionaire. Atop a corner, Cassidy headbutted his way free of the Protostar. “Hologram” rushed to the ring in a cloak, seemingly to help Cassidy. Fletcher finished Cassidy off with a Turnbuckle Brainbuster.

Post-match: Paragon and Mark Briscoe to the Rescue

Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong sprinted to Cassidy’s side. The Don Callis Family crept out to “Hologram” and Fletcher’s side. Removing the blue and green mask, Clon revealed a black and red one, with his torso adorned with tattoos. The arena glitched out during this.

Mercedes Mone Celebrates Longest-Reigning TBS Championship

Renee Paquette congratulated Mone on her longstanding title reign and 6th Anniversary of AEW. Savoring her upcoming appearance at Daily’s Place in Florida on October 8, Mone declared she’d face a local talent but didn’t specify who. She shifted focus to the women’s tag team division, wondering who she should team with. Harley Cameron, with her Mercedes Mone puppet, approached, but Mone vehemently opposed this.

Hangman Adam Page & The Opps (Samoa Joe & Powerhouse Hobbs) defeated Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia, & Claudio Castagnoli)

(One of those trios matches where everyone’s a star and they all shine. Nothing more to say, just enjoy.)

Joe and Castagnoli tussled, with Joe overwhelming the Swiss with quick and repetitive strikes. He tackled the Death Rider into the opposite corner, where Moxley and Garcia ganged up on him. They took turns on the Samoan, who escaped with a tag to Page. Hobbs later burst onto the scene, colliding into Castagnoli and Moxley in the corner. Sensing Garcia talking trash behind him, Hobbs no-sold his fists and laid him out with a clothesline. Moxley ambushed Hobbs, but that only enraged the Powerhouse as he slammed him on the ring apron and tossed him onto the floor.

Gutwrench Deadlift from Castagnoli hobbled Hobbs as he kept him grounded. Page leapt into action with a hot tag, dropping everyone with lariats (especially Garcia). He planted Garcia with a Death Valley Driver. Hobbs rescued Page with a Spinebuster to Castagnoli. Garcia charged him out of the ring, but tumbled himself courtesy of Joe. Everyone traded finishers. Page countered a Neutralizer with a pin and landed a Deadeye. A Buckshot Lariat finished off Castagnoli for the 3-count.

Post-match: Samoa Joe Felt Disrespected by Adam Page

Page celebrated the win, handing Hobbs and Joe their titles to which Joe accidentally dropped. Page bragged that this is why AEW’s been around for six years. In the background, Joe eyed Page rather disapprovingly, to which Hobbs tried to calm him down. Joe confronted Page, feeling disrespected by the Men’s World Champion. Confused, Page refused to sit back and let Joe yell at him. Hobbs played peacemaker. Security attempted to intervene until Hobbs finally got Joe out of the ring and coaxed him to the back.

Hangman Page Challenged Samoa Joe to a Match at WrestleDream

Still unsure what prompted Joe’s outrage, Page set a destination to settle their beef: WrestleDream. Acknowledging Joe as an inspiration and his respect for the legend, Page snarled that if he threw a fit like he did again, he’d ruin his life.

“Timeless” Toni Storm defeated Tay Melo

(Despite not connecting in a few spots, Melo showed some chemistry with Storm. Nothing too extravagant, but enough to establish her place as an All Elite wrestler.)

Storm wrestled in gear that looked like a limousine valet.

Wrapping Melo’s cranium in a headlock, Storm held control, unleashing a Backbreaker in the process. Storm countered Melo’s Punt Kick, sweeping her vulnerable leg to land on the apron. Big Boot via Melo almost turned the match around for her, had it not been for Storm charging into her; both women lay flat on the mat. Storm escaped a Tay-K.O. with a Storm Suplex, Hip Attack, and Storm Zero combination for the win.

Post-match: “Timeless” Toni Storm Not Finished with Kris Statlander

A dejected and doubtful Storm bemoaned her loss to Statlander at All Out. She stated there was a cold, dark emptiness that left her doubting herself as a timeless talent. Unsatisfied with the new champion, Storm challenged Statlander for the AEW Women’s World Championship at WrestleDream.

Sammy Guevara and Eddie Kingston Vignette

Guevara arrogantly denounced Kingston’s return and pitted the Mad King against Dralistico. Annoyed, Kingston responded that Guevara would be next after the luchador.

Samoa Joe Addressed Hangman Adam Page’s Challenge

Joe stated that he’d been so preoccupied with the Death Riders that he almost forgot who he was. Reiterating that Page never beat him one-on-one, Joe acknowledged “Cowboy Sh#t”, but informed Page he hadn’t run into “real sh#t” yet. Powerhouse Hobbs looked quite uncomfortable.

The Demand (Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun w/Ricochet) defeated The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson)

(Not to take from The Swirl or The Demand, but this could’ve been a promo segment featuring the Hurt Syndicate.)

Johnson immediately fell victim to Liona’s fearsome might. Ricochet insulted Bryan Danielson on commentary, but reversed course after the American Dragon praised him. Though Kaun was the legal man, Liona chopped Johnson down. Christian burst onto the scene, overwhelming Kaun, insulting Liona in the meantime.

In the corner, Kaun punished Christian with chops. Johnson tagged in with an onslaught of strikes and dropkicks. Christian used his body like a weapon, swirling through the air like a heat-seeking missile to launch Liona into the barricade. Kaun & Liona spiked Johnson with a double bodyslam for the 3-count.

Hurt Syndicate Confronted The Demand

Ricochet slid Blake Christian into the ring for further beating. Hurt Syndicate’s music played to a pop. MVP asked everyone what their area codes were, resulting in everyone eventually chanting his name. Apologizing to Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, MVP took the fall for the trio’s loss at All Out. Admitting he wasn’t as skilled a wrestler as he used to be, MVP declared he could still fight. In fact, he issued a challenge to a Trios Street Fight for the October 8 AEW Dynamite. He threw his microphone to Ricochet, who miraculously caught it, and obliged.

Kris Statlander Accepted Toni Storm’s Challenge

Dressed like a science fiction protagonist from the late 1990s, Statlander responded to Storm. At WrestleDream, she will defend her title against the “Timeless” one. Harley Cameron emerged from nowhere to cheerlead Statlander whilst hiding her Mercedes Mone puppet.

Don Callis Set Konosuke Takeshita, & Kazuchika Okada For a Match

Angry over the success of Brody King and Bandido’s tag team glory, Callis issued a challenge. To Takeshita’s dismay, the match would feature him allying with Okada. Attempting to argue this, Takeshita was interrupted by Okada, who firmly accepted Callis’s ultimatum. Callis assured Takeshita that the pair worked well together despite past disputes.

Kris Statlander & Darby Allin defeated Death Riders (Marina Shafir & Wheeler Yuta)

(A pleasant bit of gnarliness, perfectly suitable for family viewing while not over the top.)

Impatient with the standard Death Riders entrance, Allin and Statlander jumped their opponents. Allin choked Yuta with his own white shirt. Statlander bent Shafir backward over a seat’s armchair and whallopped her midsection. Shafir trapped Statlander’s neck with her legs, squeezing with utmost vitriol. Allin held Yuta and Shafir’s heads up for Statlander to leap from the stands into the Death Riders. Yuta recoiled at Allin’s chair shots. Allin soared through the ropes toward a sitting Yuta; the Death Riders leapt from the chair, resulting in Allin spilling into the seat. Meanwhile, Shafir absorbed Statlander’s knee strikes to deliver forearms and a roundhouse kick onto the commentary desk.

Back in the ring, Statlander wrecked Yuta and Shafir. Allin lay among a wreckage of chairs. Shafir clutched a comeback, driving Statlander’s spine into the ring apron. Yuta maintained authority over Allin, suplexing him into the chairs. Having had enough with Shafir’s bullying and mouthing, Statlander poked her eyes before sending both of them through tables in the timekeeper area. Yuta and Allin fell into the chairs once more. Unsatiated, Yuta crushed Allin with a Neckbreaker on the apron. Dumping a bag of thumbtacks, Yuta’s plans to use them were thwarted by Statlander. He sent her falling near the debris of chairs. Aiming to drop her into the tacks, he instead was flipped into the chairs. Shafir tried to do the same, only for Statlander to plant her into the tacks, piercing her bare feet. Yuta lay prone on Shafir, where Statlander crashed into them in a 450-Splash. Allin plummeted in a Coffin Drop to Yuta for the victory.

Post-match: Toni Storm Ambush, Death Riders Choked Darby Allin

Kris Statlander noticed Storm at the entrance, beckoning her forth. They brawled to the back. Yuta attacked Allin, as did PAC. Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli marched to him as a belt closed around his neck. Moxley dared him to be ready for their “I Quit” Match at WrestleDream.

Final Thoughts

Tonight had some high-quality in-ring work. Not quite pay-per-view level, but enough to leave fans wanting more. That’s saying something, as the show was 2.5 hours long. The in-ring return of Kenny Omega put the show on a great pace. Andrade’s AEW return leaves a lot of questions. Having Kris Statlander and Toni Storm continue their war, while Samoa Joe and Hangman Page start beefing, does spice things up heading into WrestleDream.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – AEW – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on the AEW Dynamite preview and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop. You can always count on LWOPW to be on top of the major news in the wrestling world.
