Last week’s episode featured a reunion of a beloved AEW tag team among ECW nostalgia. And tonight, they return to the ring in an all-star 8-man tag team match as Hangman Adam Page and Kenny Omega reunite! They join “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight of JetSpeed as they tackle the Don Callis Family’s Kyle Fletcher and Josh Alexander, in addition to the Young Bucks. To further tonight’s drama, Alex Windsor challenges Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship. With such an impressive first few months on the AEW roster, how will this indie veteran fare against the CEO?

Follow along with live results from tonight’s card with updated play-by-play and takes from the matches!

AEW Dynamite Card Tonight:

Falls Count Anywhere Match: Darby Allin versus Claudio Castagnoli

All-Star 8-Man Tag: Hangman Adam Page, Kenny Omega, & JetSpeed versus Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander, & The Young Bucks

AEW World Tag Team Championship: BroDido versus Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta)

Adam Copeland & Christian Cage promo

and more!

Where is AEW Dynamite Tonight?

AEW Dynamite airs live tonight, again from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

What Time is AEW Dynamite Tonight?

AEW Dynamite airs tonight at 8 PM EST on TBS Network and Max.

AEW Dynamite Results

Mercedes Mone defeated Alex Windsor

Mark Briscoe defeated Lance Archer

BroDido defeated Death Riders

Young Bucks and Don Callis Family defeated Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, & JetSpeed

Gabe Kidd & Darby Allin altercation

(Such a hot angle to open the show! Absolute chaos unfolded with fan favorites; meanwhile, Kidd cemented himself as something to look out for in AEW.)

Kidd demanded that Allin come to the ring after his recent attacks on the Death Riders. Allin ambushed him, trapping the War Dog member inside a ringpost to brutalize his arm. Kidd fired back with a lariat that dazed Allin. A Coffin Drop felled a distracted Kidd. Allin gouged Kidd’s eyes to escape a rear-naked choke. Ultimately, Allin got the better of Kidd, answered by the Death Riders swarming him. The lights went out, revealing Hook. Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs of the Opps joined the fray, as did Willow Nightingale.

Backstage, Kidd pressed Allin’s neck into a case while rambling mad, unhinged nonsense. Allin recovered by suffocating Kidd with a rag and zipping him in a body bag. Tethering the bag to the back of a truck, Allin drove off with Kidd dangling behind.

Mercedes Mone defeated Alex Windsor for the TBS Championship

(Excellent match tonight. Windsor has made quite the impression early in her AEW run. She and Mone gave the 2300 Arena a big match feel that resembled a stadium aura.)

Eight of Mone’s championships draped over the top rope behind Mone as she held her TBS belt aloft during her entrance.

The champion quickly gained momentum, but a nearly-hooked Sharpshooter by her opponent halted it. Windsor maintained control over Mone’s right arm. A Statement Maker countered Windsor’s lariat. At ringside, Windsor cannonballed Mone to the floor. It took a powerbomb to the ring apron for Mone to survive Windsor’s onslaught.

Mone kicked out of a gnarly Blue Thunderbomb. Windsor pulled back on a Sharpshooter, but Mone countered it into a Statement Maker. A Backstabber gave Mone a minute level of reprieve, but a Pop-Up Powerbomb sent her back to the mat. Some great ring awareness by Windsor saw her sneak another Sharpshooter in the ring. The pair rolled outside, where Windsor nearly refused to relent on one more Sharpshooter. Mone played possum in the ring, pulling her in for a Statement Maker and a Backstabber. The pair traded forearms amid chants of either “ECW” or “AEW”.

Windsor pulled out another Blue Thunderbomb, to no avail. Mone yanked Windsor from the top rope for a desperate Statement Maker. Windsor battled madly to escape, almost procuring a rope break. They traded roll-ups, with Mone inevitably getting the pinfall victory.

Post-match, Riho rescued Windsor from sore winner Mone’s Statement Maker. She teased the champion by holding her belt with a sly grin.

Hook confronted Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs

Joe and Hobbs informed Paquette that they didn’t know why Hook wasn’t with them. Hook approached, upset that they didn’t even wait for his return before they replaced him. Joe validated Hook’s feelings, but assured him that whether he wants it or not, The Opps will continue to have his back.

Ricochet and GOA addressed the Hurt Syndicate

Ricochet and GOA accused the Hurt Syndicate of being “washed”, that they want the industry to benefit them. They further illustrated that while BroDido won the titles, this trio ended the Hurt Syndicate’s reign by their beatdown at Forbidden Door.

Mark Briscoe shared TNT Championship aspirations, challenged Kyle Fletcher

Briscoe shared love for Philadelphia, recalling that he and his late brother Jay fell in love with pro wrestling in the 2300 Arena. Hoping to win the TNT Championship, Briscoe mentioned Fletcher and shared an inappropriate but very hilarious comparison about Don Callis. Beckoning the Don Callis Family, he watched as they obliged.

Callis answered Briscoe with issuing Konosuke Takeshita to him to inch forward in challenging Fletcher. The match would later be set for the 9/6 episode of AEW Collision. Unsatisfied, Briscoe demanded a match right then and there.

Mark Briscoe defeated Lance Archer

(Gritty, yet insane “David versus Goliath” match. Archer and Briscoe made the latter’s comeback seem impossible, yet all the more believable when it happened.)

Archer answered the call and soon tumbled out of the ring courtesy of a pele kick. The Murderhawk powerslammed Briscoe in the ring. Rocky Romero caught the referee’s attention, so that Archer could slam Briscoe on the steel steps outside.

During the commercial break, Briscoe’s eyelid lightly trickled blood as he fired up and sent Archer outside with a clothesline. The Sussex County Chicken soared through the ropes to collide with the giant into the barricade. Archer countered a Jay Driller with a Backbody Drop. A Powerbomb into the turnbuckle and a chokeslam in the mat devastated Briscoe, but couldn’t quell his spirit. He didn’t need a beanstalk to topple the giant; Briscoe finally gained the pinfall with a Froggy Bow.

Toni Storm promo

Storm addressed any future competitors to her championship. She ended her promo by saying “God doesn’t judge, but I do.” Pretty neat line.

Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron were interrupted by Wheeler Yuta

Cameron no longer sported the face mask, but instead wore pink makeup across her brow, with a cat nose and whiskers painted on.

She got ahead of herself and attempted to challenge BroDido, but Statlander recentered her focus back on the Triangle of Madness. Yuta and Marina Shafir greeted them, with Yuta checking with Statlander about an as-of-yet unrevealed message Jon Moxley left her. Statlander told him and Shafir that she received said message. Yuta scoffed at this, but agreed.

BroDido (Brody King & Bandido) (c) defeated Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli) for the AEW Men’s World Tag Team Championship

(Exhilarating defense tonight. King and Bandido’s chemistry remains apparent, and they came off very strong against the overwhelming numbers game.)

Yuta arrogantly thought he got the better of Bandido at first, but the luchador’s agility prevented any leeway the Death Rider could attempt. King and Bandido combined their efforts with the former dropping the latter on Castagnoli’s carcass. Bandido and Castagnoli teetered for a vertical suplex, with the smaller masked wrestler getting it. After a Backbreaker, Castagnoli hauled Bandido to Yuta outside.

Yuta and Castagnoli combined their efforts on Bandido, but he made it to King. The behemoth’s hot tag saw chops and strikes to the Death Riders. He charged at his opponents before squashing them in the corner.

Bandido re-entered the fray, overcoming Yuta. He and King slapped and dropped Yuta with a Superplex, but Marina Shafir prevented Bandido’s attempts to aid his partner. Before King could help, Jon Moxley laid him out against the barricade. Castagnoli and Yuta once more united, with a Giant Swing + dropkick combination. King made the rescue on that one.

Darby Allin neutralized the threat of Moxley and set Castagnoli up for a lariat by King. Bandido pinned Yuta via a bridged German suplex for the win.

Kazuchika Okada acknowledged Konosuke Takeshita

Renee Paquette asked Okada about the tension between him and Takeshita, to which the Rainmaker presented himself as the star of the group. He punctuated it that there can be only one top dog in the Don Callis Family.

MVP and the Hurt Syndicate warned GOA about Ricochet

MVP bemoaned Ricochet’s transition into a weaselly whiner. He pled with GOA to leave him before Ricochet leads them astray. At last, he challenged them to a trios match at AEW: All Out.

FTR assaulted Adam Copeland, and Christian Cage intervened

Copeland graced the 2300 Arena with his iconic theme song, but FTR edged him out of it with a beatdown. Cage came to his old partner’s resue, handling Dax Harwood, whereas Copeland tussled with Cash Wheeler. Security and local Philadelphia talent separated the teams, though Wheeler was tragically left shirtless as Harwood bled from his bald head.

Harwood shoved local talent Adam Priest away, to which he retorted with a flurry of fists. His fellow wrestlers held him at bay.

Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia vignette

Garcia expressed his rage at Moxley running roughshod over AEW and hurting legends in the company. He vowed to defeat him once and for all come the 9/6 episode of AEW Collision.

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) & Stokely Hathaway yelled at Adam Priest

Berating Adam Copeland and Christian Cage’s existence, Harwood noticed Adam Priest in the background and called him forth. Priest attempted to apologize for his earlier intrusion, to which Wheeler demanded he find a tag team partner for AEW Collision. Hathaway shooed him away so he could say “Top Guys Out.”

Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) & Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher & Josh Alexander) defeated Hangman Adam Page, Kenny Omega, & JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey)

(Exactly what it needed to be. In ECW spirit, all eight men played to their strengths for a memorable multi-man bout.

The Young Bucks got their Succession-inspired music back, but their title card read “These Guys Again?”

Alexander met Page, to whom the AEW Men’s World Champion responded to each move with a specially scouted aim of his own. Taunting Fletcher, Page fell to him after trying to tag in Omega. They and JetSpeed dove over the top ropes to lay out the Don Callis Family.

Bailey flattened Alexander with a standing Shooting Star Press. Nick bulldogged Bailey, who recovered with an elevated dropkick. Nick scouted Knight’s aerial maneuvers and called in Matt. Unfortunately for Matt, he rolled away after a suplex. Page tagged in, plummetting Matt and clotheslining Alexander. Fletcher charged towards a now-illegal Page, when Omega joined Page for a Buckshot Lariat + V-Trigger combo. Alexander swept Page to the apron to circumvent this. Fletcher’s hurricanrana was supplanted by Page’s Pop-Up Powerbomb.

As Knight fanned Page with a fan sign outside, Bailey’s rapid-fire kicks overwhelmed Alexander. The Bucks aligned their Meltzer Driver to Knight, succeeding a superkick on the barricade. Fletcher and Omega at last clashed, countering each other every step of the way. The Bucks tagged themselves in, to which Omega tagged in Page. Omega and Page nearly collided with a Buckshot Lariat + V-Trigger combo, but caught it in time to lay out the Bucks.

Fletcher mockingly slapped Page, yelling obscenities at him. Evading a Deadeye, Fletcher planted Page with a Spinning Tombstone. Knight overshot a leaping Destroyer on Fletcher. He then dropped Fletcher with a DDT. Fletcher lifted his knees to prevent a UFO from landing. Everyone traded finishers and maneuvers that played to all their strengths. A Brainbuster on Knight warranted Fletcher and the Family the victory.

Post-match, Alexander attacked Omega while the Bucks and JetSpeed sparred to the back. Lance Archer and Rocky Romero joined Fletcher and Alexander in assaulting Omega and Page. Fletcher planted Page onto a chair. The 2300 Arena changed for ECW. Fletcher dropped Omega through a table with a vertical suplex.

Final thoughts

Man, AEW understands how to live up to what a Phillie crowd would want in ECW’s old stomping grounds. Not just hardcore and extreme matches, but character work and focusing on what works best with their talents. This further attests to AEW’s use of environment to make the most of small venues. Moreover, I can see this staying in the 2300 Arena feature matches and stories contained within this tenure.

Welcome to our live recap of tonight’s AEW Dynamite results.
