It would be his second reign, following his previous one, where he successfully defended the title seven times.

Unfortunately for him, it didn’t last long.

One of the holders of the four Right to Challenge Anytime, Anywhere arm sleeves, Kazuki Hirata, would come out and hesitantly cash in his title opportunity. He shocked the world and pinned Ueno in a flash to become KO-D Openweight champion for the first time in his 15-year career.

The Right to Challenge Anytime, Anywhere concept was reintroduced earlier this month. This idea was first introduced in 2012, where multiple title opportunities for any title in DDT were contested in a battle royale in the form of contracts, which eventually became objects. Those prizes could be won by other wrestlers by pinning, submitting, or knocking out any of their current holders in any match.

Hirata, who won his right to challenge in a three-way and didn’t lose it in any of his matches that followed, leading to Wrestle Peter Pan, chose the right time to use it. Ueno was exhausted after a hard-fought battle against Higuchi, and the veteran took full advantage of it to pin him in under three minutes.

🔴WRESTLE PETER PAN Day 2 Highlights!

Hirata: I wanted to show this to the fans.
