EVIL topped the A Block with 12 points, followed by Tsuji and Finlay, respectively, with 10 points each.

Tsuji defeated Callum Newman to reach 10 points earlier in the show. With this victory, followed by EVIL’s win over Hiroshi Tanahashi, he secured a spot in the top three, advancing to the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Newman ended his second G1 with eight points.

EVIL had one of the simplest routes coming into day 15, and he did not complicate things by beating Tanahashi. He lulled The Ace with a false sense of security by not coming out with Dick Togo and Don Fale during his entrance, which was their whole routine in all of his previous matches.

Both Togo and Fale came out to interfere in the middle of the match and helped their House of Torture leader to end Tanahashi’s last G1 with a loss. EVIL will move on to the semifinals and wait for his next opponent, leaving Tanahashi to finish the tournament with eight points.

Later in the main event, David Finlay was presented with a golden opportunity. All he had to do was win, and he would advance, and that he did, by getting one over Yuya Uemura, who was in a similar situation. Finlay got in by his win over Uemura and the losses of Newman and Tanahashi.

It was a remarkable comeback by The Rebel to qualify for the playoffs after losing four straight matches early on in the tournament. Meanwhile, Uemura dropped out of the top three due to the loss and his previous loss against Tsuji, finishing his second G1 with 10 points.

In the other two tournament matches, Sanada defeated Ryohei Oiwa to finish his run with eight points, the same as his opponent. NEVER Openweight champion Boltin Oleg finished his campaign with a win to reach 10 points, besting one-half of the IWGP Tag Team champions Taichi, who finished with six.

Tournament action will resume on Wednesday, August 13, which is the final day of B Block competition. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Ren Narita will be the main event.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – NJPW – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on NJPW G1 Climax 35 and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
