Hangman Adam Page puts his title on the line in a Men’s World Championship Match in a rematch against the Death Riders’ Jon Moxley! Everyone is barred from the ringside during this bout, only Page and Moxley. The Outrunners face former EVPs, The Young Bucks in a Forbidden Door World Tag Team Championship Tournament Eliminator Match. Plus, MJF speaks alone without the Hurt Syndicate—will he cash in his Casino Gauntlet contract against Hangman, or will wrestlers like Mistico and Mark Briscoe tail him off?

One would think the Texas Death Match would signify the end of Moxley’s time in the title picture, but maybe this could be it. Perhaps MJF might cash in his contract? Speaking of the purveyor of burberry scarfs and low-hanging fruit, MJF’s contempt has once again alienated former friends in the Hurt Syndicate while enraging his peers who deeply want to punch that inflammatory mouth of his. With the popularity of The Outrunners and the downward spiral of the Young Bucks, the legendary tag team taking a loss would further their storyline while giving rising stars a positive head start, so my gut tells me The Outrunners come out with the win.

More will be announced over time, so stay tuned.

Follow along with live results from tonight’s card with updated play-by-play and takes from the matches!

AEW Dynamite Card Tonight:

AEW Men’s World Championship Match: Hangman Adam Page versus Jon Moxley

Forbidden Door AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Eliminator: The Outrunners versus The Young Bucks

Mark Briscoe versus Ricochet

“Timeless” Toni Storm and Alex Windsor versus Athena and Billie Starkz

Christian Cage returns

MJF discusses the Men’s World Championship title picture, Happy Gilmore 2, Mark Briscoe, and The Hurt Syndicate

and more!

Where is AEW Dynamite Tonight?

AEW Dynamite airs live tonight from the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois.

What Time is AEW Dynamite Tonight?

AEW Dynamite airs tonight at 8 PM EST on TBS Network and Max.

AEW Dynamite Results

Hangman Page/Jon Moxley hype vignette

A preview of the AEW Men’s World Championship match to come tonight, presented as a movie trailer.

The Young Bucks (Nicholas Jackson & Matthew Jackson) defeated The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

The Bucks had no entrance, and their title card was simply “Title Name” with the subheading “Social Media.”

Magnum and Nick started the match, with the former firmly in control. Both of the Bucks landed tope suicidas to The Outrunners on the outside. Matt landed a cutter from the top rope to Floyd. who ultimately made the hot tag as he rained the brothers down in slams aplenty. Hoping for their iconic Double Elbowdrop, the Outrunners were instead met with a Superkick from Nick. At last, they landed one on Matt. A TK Driver by the Bucks put Floyd away for the pinfall as Magnum lay prone in the corner due to his nether regions being slammed into the ring post by Matt.

Post-match, Kazuchika Okada joined the Bucks in bullying the defeated Outrunners. Swerve Strickland emerged, distracting The Elite long enough for The Outrunners to send the Bucks flying and get their revenge on Okada. Strickland dove over the top rope, bowling over Okada and the Jacksons.

(Well, I was wrong in my prediction, it seems. But the Strickland post-match angle more than made up for this. Also, let it not go unnoticed how well the Bucks and Outrunners work together in the ring.)

Mark Briscoe and Ricochet segment

Briscoe addressed his ire towards MJF when he was interrupted by Ricochet and the Gates of Agony. Essentially, the bald purveyor of flips hinted that Briscoe should focus on their upcoming match tonight.

MJF met with Shelton Benjamin

Benjamin stepped out of his locker room, greeted by MJF, who apologized for Bobby Lashley’s actions last week. Benjamin informed MJF that MVP wasn’t there because he was disgusted by MJF’s actions over the past few weeks. Addressing MJF’s watch as a TEMU item, Benjamin urged MJF to leave the Hurt Syndicate alone, that he was out, and that he should leave.

Christian Cage addressed The Patriarchy and Adam Copeland

A somber Cage professed his guilt toward how he treated Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne while bragging about them standing up to him. However, he questioned their and Shayna Wayne’s decision to harm him. Moving on to Copeland, Cage mentioned how he was an “ultimate opportunist” and how he got to where he was. Continuing to bemoan Sabian and the Waynes, he officially disowned Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian.

As he headed up the entrance, Shayna cut him off, ready to slap. Cage caught it, and dispatched Sabian. Unbeknownst to him, Nick flew in with a chair. Sabian and Nick then swung onto Cage’s head with the chairs.

(Cage left enough to garner sympathy, but is still a turd enough to show he has learned little to nothing of the betrayal. The shaming of Shayna’s bodily features felt unnecessary, but I imagine Cage’ll get a pass because he can get away with most promos right now, dead dads and all.)

Stokely Hathaway and FTR reunite with The Young Bucks

Hathaway and Dax Harwood talked trash about Colten and Austin Gunn ahead of their upcoming AEW Collision match. Nick and Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks greeted FTR, and they shook hands. Parting in the wishes they meet again in the World Tag Team Championship finals, they parted. Hathaway asked if the Bucks were no longer Executive Vice Presidents; when they said no, he flexed as though he expected them to flinch.

Hangman Adam Page defeated Jon Moxley for the AEW Men’s World Championship — Everyone Banned From Ringside

In relentless fury, Page showered Moxley with elbows. At the corner, Moxley bit into Page’s forehead. On the opposite corner, Page choked Moxley before succeeding with a lariat to the barricade. Driving his knuckles into Page’s forehead, Moxley followed with a slam. Page fought back with chops. He survived a suplex to deliver a rolling elbow that dazed Moxley to the mat. Moxley baited Page into the ring, where he dug his elbows into the champion, but suffered a powerbomb for his efforts. Perched atop the ring steps, Moxley dropped Page with a Piledriver, much to Chicago’s chagrin.

Evoking Bryan Danielson, Page teased his stomp, only for Moxley to clutch Page in a sleeper hold. Engaged in a modified STF, Page wrenched back Moxley’s arm as he frantically wiggled to the rope break.

In a Gotch-style Piledriver, Moxley had a near count. A high boot and Orihara Moonsault wore down the challenger. The referee had fell to a stray, kicking Moxley while Page set up for a Deadeye. In the madness of the moment, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta distracted security so Marina Shafir could lend Moxley the World Championship belt. Though struck with it, Page kicked out of Moxley’s pin. During the referee’s banishment of the Death Riders, Moxley watched in confusion as Darby Allin singlehandedly took out all of Moxley’s lackeys. In a final stand, Page withstood Moxley while delivering punishment of his own, and high noon struck as a Buckshot Lariat sent Moxley down for the pinfall.

(Incredible match. Chicago made this small ballroom feel like Globe Life Field in Texas all over again. There was the expected Death Riders shenanigans, but AEW found a way to make the drama all the more palpable. Loved this.)

Kyle Fletcher and Dustin Rhodes promo hype vignette

A hard rock instrumental scored Fletcher and Rhodes’s upcoming TNT Championship match on AEW Collision this week.

Athena & Billie Starkz defeated “Timeless” Toni Storm & Alex Windsor

Windsor locked up with Athena, with Athena celebrating after having the edge in the early grappling. She teased a legal Storm, only to tag in Starkz. Storm gained the upper hand with a side headlock takedown. Windsor rattled Starkz with a DDT. Starkz catapulted Windsor into Athena, who followed up with a Spinebuster. Athena kept Windsor ostracized from a downed Storm, but incurred the wrath of a Liger Bomb. Storm ran interference, leading to Windsor felling Athena with a Discus Lariat.

Mongolian chops and a Lou Thesz Press by Storm sent Chicago to their feet as she introduced these moves to her repertoire. Unbeknownst to Storm, Athena was the legal woman, and she soared in a diving crossbody for the pinfall.

Post-match, Starkz tossed Windsor into the barricade. Meanwhile, Athena informed Storm that “it’s only a matter of time” before she cashes in her Casino Gauntlet contract.

(I imagine that Windsor is taking Mina Shirakawa’s place after her injury, and she’s filling in so well. There’s chemistry in their teamwork, but the story paints that they’re not quite on Athena and Starkz’s level, and I think that’s neat.)

MJF berated Hangman Adam Page

Questioning Page’s temerity to be referred to as a hero, he alluded to his own Casino Gauntlet contract. Furthermore, he tried to provoke Page into a title match without using said contract. He even went so far as to invoke the name of Swerve Strickland. Page saw right through it and told MJF he’d have to face Mark Briscoe before he could challenge him for the AEW Men’s World Championship.

Willow Nightingale interview with Lexy Nair

Nightingale announced that, on the July 31 episode of AEW Collision, she would face Thekla, as arranged by Tony Khan.

Mark Briscoe defeated Ricochet

Briscoe blasted off in the match with rage, complete with serious poise. In the corner, he chopped Ricochet to the mat. Withstanding each of Ricochet’s punches, Briscoe drove his opponent into the corner chest-first. Once more delivering chops, Briscoe struck Ricochet from the top rope. Gates of Agony swaggered to the ringside, distracting Briscoe long enough for Ricochet to send him flying and landing a tope suicida.

Referee Bryce Remsburg objected to Riccochet introducing a steel chair to the match, leading Briscoe to sneak a roll-up for a 2-count. Standing Shooting Star Press by Ricochet may have pushed Briscoe’s midsection, but he wasn’t able to put him away. The defiant Briscoe catapulted himself off a steel chair to fly into Bishop Kaun and Ricochet. Readying for a Jay Driller, Briscoe sagged as Ricochet sandbagged him. Ricochet’s patented Vertigo further softened Briscoe. Brody King and Bandido rushed to Briscoe’s side, leading to a brawl with the Gates of Agony ahead of Collision’s World Tag Team Tournament Eliminator match.

Ricochet evaded another Jay Driller but ate a lariat. At last, Briscoe won the match with the Jay Driller.

Post-match, Briscoe admitted MJF was living rent-free in his head after the many barbs about Jay Briscoe’s passing. He demanded that MJF come to the ring for a match. MJF’s music hit for an extended period until he appeared on the tron screen. MJF, backstage, accepted the challenge only because that was Hangman Adam Page’s ultimatum. He then attacked Briscoe from behind. Page darted to the ring, to Briscoe’s aid as MJF sped away to the back.

(Mark Briscoe has progressively evoked Jay’s essence and style, but his rage against MJF has clouded his vision. Which, thematically, is why it makes all the sense that Briscoe struggled and then ultimately landed a Jay Driller all the more sweet in this match.)

Final thoughts

This was perhaps the best AEW Dynamite to be held in the Aragon Ballroom. The Bucks and the Outrunners began the show with a lot of fun, whereas the drama of Page and Moxley led to a loud, raucous Chicago crowd. Toni Storm and Alex Windsor continued the spectacle, keeping Chicago’s attention while Mark Briscoe’s woes ended the show on an emotional note.

Overall, the show hit the beats it needed to. While the future isn’t clear on what’s next for everyone, it compels me to anxiously wait until tomorrow’s Collision and next week’s Dynamite.

Welcome to our live recap of tonight’s AEW Dynamite results.
