We are two weeks into the new era of Hangman Adam Page’s double redemption. Jon Moxley is not just stepping aside from his position as the apex predator despite back-to-back losses.

Moxley’s blood might be in the water, but the Death Riders’ leader seems acutely aware of showing weakness. Hence the hanging of Page’s friend and Chicago’s own, Colt Cabana, on Collision.

The war is not over. The next step of the story occurs on Wednesday, as Wheeler Yuta takes on the AEW Men’s World Champion.

The last two weeks have seen some parity in the presentation of the men’s and women’s world champions. There’s still a wider spotlight issue for the women’s division, but “Timeless” Toni Storm and her current rival, the Forever ROH Women’s World Champion, Athena, are making every minute count.

The contrasting wit and sass to their male counterparts’ intensity makes this budding feud enticing.

If more stuff gets announced, we’re going to need a bigger preview. Let’s speculate!

AEW Dynamite Announced Card

Matches Announced:

AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator match: “Timeless” Toni Storm vs. Billie Starkz W/ Athena

Hangman Adam Page vs. Wheeler Yuta

Will The Hangman Execute Vengeance?

Once again, poor Wheeler Yuta will be the recipient of an ass-whooping from an enemy of the Death Riders. We’ve seen this bruising dance before with Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs.

Page in proportions is not the big, bad, beefy boy that Joe and Hobbs are. Yet Page’s intensity and fury are scary in other ways.

The man drank the blood of his enemy. Page hung Yuta’s leader at All In Texas. Colt Cabana paid for this transgression.

Will the Hangman get biblical? Seek an eye for an eye? One of the fun aspects of these encounters with Yuta has been seeing the runt get bumped and beaten.

Taking beating after beating but remaining at Moxley’s side like a whipped dog. In some respects, the character arc Yuta is going through is like Page’s dark relapse into insecurity. Only, instead of causing harm to everyone around him, ruining lives and destroying careers, the demons are destroying Yuta.

Page has changed and evolved as a character. Either in the match or perhaps after, could there be a moment where Page does something more powerful than executing vengeance?

We’ve not considered whether The Dark Order are returning to The Hangman’s saga. Or whether an even more violent rematch occurs between Page and Moxley. Or if we are closing on Blood and Guts.

Send the Minion to do a Forever Champion’s Work

When “Timeless” Toni Storm takes on one of the stars of tomorrow in these eliminator matches, we’re generally in for something special. With the caliber of an opponent like Billy Starkz, aka Minion 400,237 and 3/4s, expect razzle dazzle.

Starkz is a prodigy. The fact that AEW has chosen to tell you that Nick Wayne is the company’s youngest champion, ignoring Starkz’s ROH TV Championship reign, is something I and others have not forgotten. It might also feel like years ago, but early this year, Starkz two matches against Jamie Hayter helped the Brit find her form.

So, against Storm, expect a high-quality contest and perhaps Starkz’s best Dynamite match. Given the uniqueness of the venue and Athena’s balcony promo, expect the Fallen Goddess to be waiting from above.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – AEW – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on AEW Dynamite, and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
