It’s a show that will highlight the best women that the wrestling world has to offer. WWE has put together the best card they could, showing off the talents of each woman in the company. Each match also has its intrigue and will significantly impact how WWE books its women going forward. There should be no doubt of how great the night can be, but how great was it? Let’s look at how Evolution panned out.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match: Becky Lynch vs Bayley vs Lyra Valkyria (3/5)

Fantastic idea to start the show off with this Women’s Triple Threat match. The crowd was on fire since Evolution went live, and these women did everything they could to keep that momentum going. The crowd had a hard time staying in their seats throughout the contest.

There was a lot of great creativity with the triple-threat gimmick here. The women worked their spots very well, and there were some that we had never seen before. This triple threat match was fast-paced, and since it was hard to predict we the false finishes worked incredibly well.

To be honest, it looks like Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Lyra Valkyria held back slightly for this match. Hopefully, it was to have something even better to come back with at Summerslam. This was a great opener that had a creative and character-appropriate backslide steal from Lynch to retain the championship.

NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne vs Jordynne Grace (2.5/5)

Great showcase from the women of NXT here. Jacy Jane is so talented at playing the heel, and she spent a lot of the match using her heels to stay on top of Jordynne Grace. Grace, of course, used her power to maintain an even split. It was a fun match with some great spots from Grace and Jayne, with the modified fisherman’s suplex being a highlight.

Most thought that this would be the crowning moment for Jordynne Grace, but it was thwarted by Blake Monroe turning her back on her running match. It was a nice touch to end the match and will give Jordynne Grace a great revenge program to enter into. Rest assured, she will taste WWE gold; she just came up short on this night.

Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: The Kabuki Warriors vs Zaria & Sol Ruca vs Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez (2.75/5)

WWE may have accomplished the impossible. The Atlanta crowd was hot for Charlotte Flair, and she might be on her way to becoming the baby face that WWE has so wanted. It was great to see her work like a face, and for the crowd to be eating up everything that The Queen did.

There was great chaos in everything that happened in this match. It started with some quick tag team action, but soon devolved into outright madness. Every woman got her chance to shine here, with Zaria showing some amazing power. The world knew about most of these women, but the names Zaria and Sol Ruca should be household names now.

The finish had some fun spots, with Bliss getting tossed to the outside. But the ending fell a little flat. There seemed to be more to the match, as it ended with little fanfare.

WWE Women’s Championship Match: Tiffany Stratton vs Trish Stratus (2.75/5)

Trish Stratus and Tiffy Stratton weren’t given a ton of time to build on this match, but they did what they could. Luckily, they are both uber talented and worked their promos well to get us invested.

It amazes me every time that Trish Stratus comes back and still can go with the best of them. She controlled the majority of the match, working in some impressive wrestling skills, showing that the Hall of Famer still has it. WWE should bring her back full-time and capitalise on her while she’s still able to perform.

There were no botches, great wrestling, and some fun spots throughout the match. Stratton and Stratus worked very well together, and it was a huge feather in Stratton’s cap to go over and go over clean. She had claimed victory over some greats, and Trish Stratus is another huge notch on the belt.

No Holds Barred Match: Jade Cargill vs Naomi (2.75/5)

This match has been the result of months of storytelling, and the audience was rabid for it to start. Bianca Belair, being the special referee, was the right call and added more drama to the match.

It was nice to see that Cargill and Naomi didn’t let wrestling get in their way of trying to destroy one another. Using weapons early sold the hatred between the two women, and there were a ton of great spots. The drop kick into the announcer’s table, with smoke and everything, was a piece. It was followed by a brutal spot of Naomi trying to take out Cargill’s eye. It was impressive to see Jade Cargill taking all these bumps, and it hid her greenness.

There wasn’t much of a comeback from Jade Cargill; it slightly undersold the damage that she took during the match. It made Naomi look weaker than she should have, and we can only hope it doesn’t damage her too much. It was still a fun match, albeit one that could have been booked better.

Women’s #1 Contendership Battle Royal (3/5)

Setting up a championship match for Clash at Paris was an interesting move, being that Summerslam is taking place in three weeks. Although it does let WWE stretch a program out a little bit longer, so that’s a plus.

Battle Royals are always going to be fun. Having 20 women in the ring at the same time is going to cause the right amount of chaos that the WWE Universe thrives off of. Plus, there are a few women who could win this match, adding to the uncertain nature of a Battle Royal. Even though a certain writer’s pick of Bianca Belair was way off.

Fun start to the match, especially with the Secret Hervice protecting Chelsea Green in the corner. It fit well within their character and tipped the scales in the former United States champion’s favour. Outside of a few women, everyone got a great rub here. They all looked strong and were able to get some fun offense in.

Getting to the final four, there wasn’t much of a surprise. Bella, Jax, Vaquer, and Legend were the strongest women in the match and would make great contenders. The quick eliminations for Jax and Bella could have been dragged out, but they were still effective.

Stephanie Vaquer was the right call here. She is the rising star and will be a fantastic opponent for whoever the champion is. This was a fun Battle Royal, not one that blew us away, but one that was a fun watch.

Women’s World Championship Match: Iyo Sky vs Rhea Ripley (4.75/5)

This was the clear choice for the main event, and judging from the job both women did, it isn’t hard to see why. They started off the match with some fantastic chain wrestling that showed how evenly matched these two are. After that, both got their time on the offensive, pulling off some great moves that kept every fan engaged throughout the match.

There was no way that this match was going to end on a fluke pin. Some amazing power and high-flying moves led to some close two-counts. Nothing we thought would finish the match, but necessary spots to build towards the eventual finish.

The further this match went, the more intense the spots got. There were some very stiff shots, with each woman getting dropped on their head a few times. It was hard to imagine that either woman was going to win, and they deserved a fight forever chant. We can watch this woman go to battle in every show.

The ref bump seemed to be the only way to lead to this finish. WWE doesn’t want either woman to lose this match, as they would want to run this back at Summerslam. It also allowed the women to take the action outside of the barricade, which led to an insane crossbody spot from Sky.

Back in the ring, this match was put on another level. Who didn’t think that Iyo Sky had the match won with her moonsault? We didn’t think that match would ever end, and Naomi’s music hit, and Money in the Bank was cashed in. It was honestly a near-perfect finish to a near-perfect match. Kudos to these women.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on WWE Evolution 2025 results and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
