All In is days away, and the excitement is palpable. Mercedes Mone sits down with “Timeless” Toni Storm in a final face-to-face that will undoubtedly be dialogue fit for cinema. Elsewhere on the card, four women clash for the #2 spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet at All In featuring rivals in Megan Bayne and Tay Melo, as well as Queen Aminata and Thekla.

As far as multi-man tag matches go, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli pair with the Young Bucks against Opps members Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata, who join “Hangman” Adam Page and Will Ospreay. If that’s not enough Opps and Death Riders action, Samoa Joe locks up with Wheeler Yuta! She adorned the ropes with her many, many belts. Storm responded in kind and asked what Mone was so afraid of. In retort, Mone snapped that she wasn’t afraid; she’s simply coming for everything, whether the fans want her or not. She emphasized legacy, to which Storm countered that those die like humans do. Storm followed by saying, “You fear an ordinary life, whereas I fear an ordinary death.”

Storm said that Mone deserves all the belts, just not hers, and that when it comes to it, she can’t ever seem to win the big one. Mone stumbled briefly, mentioning the show on Saturday, when it’s on Sunday.

The “Timeless” one came out the stronger voice in the promo. Fortunately for Mone, who is great, this slip-up will only haunt her for a few weeks or less.

Jon Moxley backstage promo

Moxley addressed “Hangman” Adam Page, saying that there’s no turning back now and that he’s all in, that he’s “all the way in”.

Protoshita (Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita) defeated Brody King & Bandido

King immediately offset the slimmer Takeshita with his own size and power, so the latter had to play dirty. He united with Bandido for a combined offense against Fletcher. After a wild scramble of topes and dives, King cleared everyone like a bowling ball. Protoshita subverted him and performed a double-dropkick to Bandido. Against the threat of a slam by Fletcher, Bandido remarkably countered with a DDT. A rampaging King exhausted both Fletcher and himself as the Aussie slammed the behemoth to the mat.

Despite their best efforts to slam him, Protoshita suffered a hurricanrana courtesy of Bandido. Fletcher flipped King over the barricade by a running kick, while Takeshita and Bandido battled for proper grappling control. Elbow strike in mid-air via Takeshita trounced Bandido’s Tornado DDT attempt. With no more gas left in the tank, Takeshita pinned Bandido after a Raging Fire.

The Hounds of Hell should definitely integrate Bandido as an honorary hound. They played so well off each other.

The Outrunners backstage promo + video package

Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd addressed the intense match from the July 5 episode of AEW Collision, where they stole the show against FTR. They professed that that was who they really are.

FTR and the Patriarchy backstage promo

Christian Cage praised FTR’s accolades. He elaborated that he’ll scratch their backs if they scratch theirs by helping them win the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Stokely Hathaway touted FTR’s recent victory over the Outrunners and their history of acclaimed matches. He then shook hands with a very hesitant Cage.

Ricochet defeated Blake Christian

Christian managed an early advantage, leading Ricochet to dart around the ringside. Ricochet gained control with his experience and higher agility, but was met with a slap to his bald head instead and a flip to the outside. Bishop Kaun and Toa Leona greeted him at the entrance ramp, to which Ricochet took advantage of by slamming Christian into the steel steps.

Spanish Fly from Christian nearly brings Ricochet to the edge, but ate a loud Cutter and a 450 Splash. Gates of Agony meant to subdue him, but Christian dodged them, walking across them to the ring. Shooting across the ring with his Spirit Gun move, Ricochet defeated Christian with a Vertigo.

Post-match, Gates of Agony slammed Christian to the mat and posed to the hard cam.

Christian, for all the flack he gets on social media, is piecing together his matches well. Maximizing his minutes while doing the job, there may be a moment for him soon if he keeps up his performance.

Hurt Syndicate segment

The Syndicate boasted of their upcoming matches. As they walked from Renee Paquette, they found their belts had been stolen by “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight of JetSpeed. MVP assured them they’d all take care of it, sans MJF, who had Mark Briscoe to contend with for a talky-talk.

Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada rivalry promo vignette

Mark Briscoe and MJF Talky-Talk

MJF immediately buried the idea of a word like “talky-talk,” and proceeded to give a terrible redneck accent. The crowd did not like it. Briscoe answered that MJF needed a “country a$$-whoopin’.” The Sussex County Chicken admitted he was a redneck and proud of his country roots. Sensing a possible slander of Jay Briscoe, Mark called it out early. To the surprise of everyone, MJF showered the late Briscoe brother with praise. Instead, MJF posited that Jay was watching from disappointment from the afterlife.

To rub salt further into the wound, MJF said if Jay were to see Mark, he’d say, “It should have been you.” Briscoe finally snapped, but the Hurt Syndicate came to MJF’s rescue. At least, they would’ve if JetSpeed hadn’t cut Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin off. Briscoe chased MJF out of the ring. JetSpeed continued to beat down the Syndicate. The Patriarchy entered to handle Lashley and MVP while JetSpeed finished off Benjamin.

The usage of Jay Briscoe’s name was uncomfortable, yet impressive. Still, a great contrast between them. Using this to advance the tag team angles was a nice touch, albeit a tad overbooked and a bit long.

Megan Bayne defeated Tay Melo, Queen Aminata, and Thekla

Bayne and Melo took out Thekla and Aminata, respectively, in the early goings. As Bayne and Melo brawled on the outside, Thekla dove onto them, and Aminata followed suit to quite an ovation. Aminata and Melo worked together on Thekla in a seesaw, who crawled out in a daze. Bayne capitalized with catastrophic slams to both women. Aminata dropped Thekla with a Falcon Arrow after a spirited comeback. Statlander watched from the crowd.

Catching Thekla mid-air, Bayne threw the Toxic Spider to Mel and Aminaa on the outside and dove through the ropes to topple them each again. Smartly, Melo targeted Bayne’s ankles with kicks and dropped her on the face. Thekla T-posed on Melo, dropped her with an elbow strike, and speared the Brazilian. Penelope Ford attempted interference, to which Anna Jay chased her away. Bayne pinned Aminata after a destructive Running Powerbomb.

More of this. More of this woman’s division, where everyone has clearly defined characters and differing styles that set them apart. We need more than just Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone.

Renee Paquette interview falls apart

Speaking to Thekla, Paquette was interrupted by an impromptu brawl between the Toxic Spider and Queen Aminata. Amid the chaos, Mark Briscoe angrily delivered an almost incomprehensible promo about how angry he was at MJF.

Samoa Joe defeated Wheeler Yuta

Boldly and unwisely, Yuta attempted to grapple with Joe. The Samoan absorbed all of the young Death Rider’s violent aspirations. He even did the walk-away spot! However, Yuta successfully dropped Joe with a flying elbow. Big boot from Joe sets Yuta up to suffer a Senton. Yuta clumsily aimed to suplex Joe before attempting to gauge his eye. Joe countered with the Coquina Clutch for the victory.

Post-match, Gabe Kidd rushed in to beat down on Joe with Yuta. Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata darted after them as they fled.

Quick, yet effective. Not only did this set the stage for the 8-man tag, but it served as a reminder that The Opps will factor heavily against the Death Riders at All In, and keeps Kidd in the picture.

Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) defeated Hangman Adam Page, Will Ospreay, Katsuyori Shibata, and Powerhouse Hobbs

As soon as the bell rang, Page charged at Matthew and Nicholas, only to topple at a double-shoulder tackle. Ospreay chopped and kicked the brothers out of the ring. Shibata dropkicked Nicholas and threw him into Hobbs for a Powerslam. Shibata and Page pursued Castagnoli and Moxley, respectively. Page floored everyone with an Orihara Moonsault, scowling at Marina Shafir as he did.

Castagnoli throttled Ospreay in a hellacious grip before elbowing most of his partners off the apron. Moxley isolated Ospreay from his corner for a time until an Oscutter gave the Aerial Assassin some reprieve. Single-handedly, Page equalized Castagnoli and the Bucks. Hobbs struggled with Castagnoli but dropped Moxley with a massive lariat. Shibata unleashed a flurry against Castagnoli, locking in a sleeper in the process. He followed with multiple Pentalty Kicks until Nicholas kicked him out of the ring.

Ospreay floated out of the spamming superkicks of the Bucks, whereas Hobbs had to endure multiple times before Moxley and Castagnoli powerbombed him through a table. While Castagnoli played defense, Moxley choked Shibata to unconsciousness to win the match.

Post-match, The Death Riders, Young Bucks, and Gabe Kidd commenced a beatdown on Ospreay and Page. Harkening back to WrestleDream 2024, the Bucks pulled out plastic bags to suffocate the pair of fallen foes. Swerve Strickland appeared on the tron, vowing that “this is how vengeance breeds.” He then decimated the Bucks’ limousine outside of the arena with a construction crane. The brothers sprinted in that direction.

Samoa Joe leveled the playing field for Page and Ospreay. The Aerial Assassin landed an Orihara Moonsault to the Death Riders and Kidd. Discus Lariat floored Moxley, and a Buckshot Lariat nearly did Moxley. Shafir shielded Moxley as she rushed him outside, seeing Page wrap a steel chain around his wrist. Nicholas and Matthew mourned the destruction of their limo; Strickland planted them into the concrete.

What a main event match and what a closing angle. I’m more amped than ever to watch All In. What a team of babyfaces!

Final thoughts

I’m so hyped for All In now. I wish it were right now. Everything is set up to perfection, with multiple narratives spiraling into compelling threads. I’ve legitimately got nothing else to say other than this was a great, great episode of Dynamite.

Welcome to our live recap of tonight’s AEW Dynamite results.
