Saturday Night’s Main Event will be coming to us live from Atlanta, Georgia, and it should be a fantastic night of professional wrestling. With only three matches on the card, WWE will no doubt be putting a ton of weight behind their attractions.

A returning legend’s last stand, and two grudges fill out the card for Saturday. All with their intrigue and all with implications for the future of WWE. Saturday Night’s Main Event cards have been suspect in the past, but this one will deliver a ton of fireworks. These fireworks will give us all the reasons necessary to watch on Saturday, but below are the biggest reasons.

Goldberg’s Last Spear

As announced in the build-up to this match, we will see the man they call Goldberg competing for the last time. It has been a long and storied career for the former WCW and World Heavyweight Champion. He has been a main event player in every promotion he has stepped into and has amassed a win-loss record that rivals the best in wrestling history.

At 58 years old, Goldberg’s better years have been behind him for a while. He is not the man he once was, and Father Time is creeping up. Many have thought he was destined for retirement years ago, but this Saturday will be the day. For anyone who was a fan of Goldberg growing up, this Saturday will be the last chance we have to see him in the ring. That alone is worth tuning the television to NBC.

Seth Rollins and L.A. Knight Will Be The Right Sort Of Chaos

Seth Rollins and his band of heavies have been running wild over the entire WWE. There isn’t a baby face that they haven’t run foul of, but this time it may cost them.

L.A. Knight has taken a step forward and will take on Seth Rollins in what will prove to be a match full of shenanigans. This is a fresh matchup between a main event guy and a man who is itching to punch his ticket to the big time.

They have been putting together some compelling television in the lead-up to this match, so there shouldn’t be much doubt that both men will deliver an exciting contest at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

For fans who enjoy multiple run-ins, this will be the match for you. Rollins’ cohorts will be lurking in every corner, waiting for their moment. However, it should be noted that other baby faces, such as Penta and Jey Uso, for example, will have no problem coming to Knight’s aid.

Heck, even CM Punk could make an appearance to tip the scales.

Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre Rekindle Past Issues

The Viper and the Scottish Psychopath have been at odds with each other for years. Their wars over the WWE Championship were legendary. Everything they did was extremely physical, and they were as evenly matched as any pairing in WWE.

It was a quick promo that reunited them, but a very welcome one. It will be great to see these two titans go to battle once again. This time, the roles will be reversed, so the match should have a different style than their past contests. It will be a shift for both men, but one that will give us an interesting dynamic.

When it comes to who will win, that is another great selling point. Both men are desperate to get their hands raised in victory, and both will stop at nothing to get there. It will be tons of fun to see what lengths Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre will go to on Saturday.

Three Matches Mean More Development

In the past, Saturday Night’s Main Event has been hampered by stacking too many matches on the card. It’s not a long show, and having four or more matches has meant that WWE is forced to have quick contests. This prevents the combatants from developing a coherent narrative or the fans from becoming invested in what is happening.

This Saturday, only three matches have been advertised. This will help draw out the tension in each match and make the matches mean more. Excitement will be at a fever pitch for each match, and these men will be able to tear the house down.

The Number Of Surprises And Returns That Are In Store

Of all the Saturday Night’s Main Events, this is the one that could contain the most surprises. To begin with, rumours have been running wild that Goldberg might actually walk away with the World Heavyweight Championship. Sure, this is something that shouldn’t happen, but WWE has been known to throw a wrench into plans before. What’s to say that they don’t swerve the world again?

This outcome could also hinge significantly on whether Seth Rollins decides to cash in the Money in the Bank contract. The Visionary is always a wild card with his briefcase, and we know that this will happen at some point, so why not follow a shock victory from Goldberg?

WWE also loves its returns, and they have always paraded out legends of yesteryear at Saturday Night’s Main Event. It’s a nostalgia-filled ploy, but one that’s always fun and adds some enjoyment to the show.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
