The July 2nd episode of WWE Speed presented a “speed date” with destiny for its semi-finalists, as WWE NXT’s Thea Hail took on WWE SmackDown’s Alba Fyre in a bid to secure a title shot at WWE Women’s Speed Champion Sol Ruca.<\/p>\n

The semi-finalists picked up impressive wins in their respective quarter-finals last week, with Hail overcoming the strength differential to defeat NXT veteran Nikkita Lyons.<\/p>\n

Fyre, meanwhile, met the ever-improving B-FAB in the WWE Speed ring. B-FAB, who has transitioned from managerial duties for the Street Profits into a more active wrestler, last wrestled on the main roster in May, teaming up with Michin on SmackDown to defeat Fyre and Piper Niven. However, her fortunes deserted her in the quarter-finals, as Fyre emerged victorious.<\/p>\n

Thea Hail and Alba Fyre: Two WWE stars seeking order after significant upheaval<\/h2>\n

Hail and Fyre have undergone significant changes in their gimmick over the last year. Hail has been seeking to reinvent herself since the enforced disbandment of the Chase U stable last November. Fyre, who won the WWE women’s tag team titles at Clash at the Castle just over a year ago, was also forced to regroup following the release of her tag team partner Isla Dawn earlier this year.<\/a> Fyre has since found success as part of the Secret Hervice team that ‘protects’ Chelsea Green.<\/p>\n

Hail and Fyre were well matched in styles, with each of them landing significant blows in the early minutes of the match. Hail looked to be heading toward the win following a Springboard Senton and a counter to Fyre’s Swanton Bomb.<\/p>\n

Seeking a second Swanton to put Fyre to bed, the Scottish wrestler was alert to Hail’s intentions and snatched the 21-year-old NXT star out of the air. Like B-FAB a week prior, Hail felt the power of Fyre’s Gory Bomb, securing the victory with about 40 seconds left on the clock.<\/p>\n

Fyre’s only previous singles title reign in WWE was a significant one. Holding the NXT UK Women’s Championship for 649 days between 2019 and 2021, she has the record for the championship’s longest reign. The Green Regime member is well overdue a taste of singles gold.<\/a><\/p>\n

Current champion Sol Ruca, viewed by many as a future main roster star, also currently holds the NXT Women’s North American Championship. She is the first superstar to hold these titles simultaneously. Ruca is the second women’s Speed Champion, having dethroned Candice LeRae in April.<\/p>\n

The championship match will take place on WWE Speed, exclusively streamed on X, next Wednesday.<\/p>\n
