On Monday, everything was coming up Judgment Day. After Finn Balor and JD McDonagh brought the World Tag Team Championship back to the clubhouse, Balor seemingly completed his plan to ice out Liv Morgan, when he told Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis that Roxanne Perez should replace her as holder of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Raquel Rodriguez. Pearce and Aldis quickly came to a decision and in doing set, set up what should be a massive match at Evolution II.<\/p>\n

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to be Contested in 4-Way<\/h2>\n

Pearce and Aldis told Balor they agreed to the decision to have Perez step in a la freebird style but on one condition<\/a>. She and Rodriguez were going to have to earn the right to stay holders of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship by defending their titles against a team from SmackDown, a team from Raw, and a team from NXT.<\/p>\n

This is a fantastic development. While originally launched as titles that would be defended across WWE’s three brands, there has been a lack of equity when it comes to NXT. Of the 32 championship reigns, only three belonged to teams primarily repping the NXT brand at the time. At Evolution II, a talented NXT roster will have a chance to make that four times as everyone looks to dethrone Rodriguez, the most successful women’s tag team champion of all-time, with five reigns to her name – and her new partner.<\/p>\n

The only question that remains is who will step up from each roster to answer the challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship?<\/p>\n
