The biannual trip to the Middle East has only had a few weeks of build behind it, but WWE has managed to create quite the buzz. They have stacked the Night of Champions card with some huge matches and others that will have long-reaching implications for how the rest of the year unfolds.

WWE PLEs are going to be watched by millions, regardless of quality. Luckily, there should be no problem with Night of Champions delivering the goods. The company has given us plenty of reasons to get excited about Saturday night, and those reasons are listed below.

Official WWE Night of Champions 2025 poster
Courtesy: WWE

John Cena and CM Punk’s Last Dance

John Cena’s retirement tour has given us plenty of huge matchups, but none may be bigger than this Saturday. CM Punk has been one of John Cena’s greatest rivals. It was their feud that jump-started the Summer of Punk and led to some of the most compelling television in years.

Every time they stepped into the ring, whether to trade holds or barbs, the world took notice. When these two men come together, something special happens.

This Saturday will mark the last time that CM Punk and John Cena go to battle for a World Championship. Their feud has made history in the wrestling industry, helping to make the names of both men. WWE knows how much their rivalry has meant to the world and will undoubtedly make this the wonderful conclusion to an amazing story.

King and Queen of the Ring Finals

The King of the Ring has been a fan favourite for decades. It is a tournament that is steeped in history and has always provided for a great highlight or two. Both the King and Queen of the Ring finals should have no problem meeting these lofty expectations.

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton is a match years in the making. Since Rhodes’ return to WWE, the world has wanted this one-on-one match to take place. The story will tell itself when the former stablemates meet in Saudi Arabia. It’s a match we all have wanted to happen and will now get to watch.

Jade Cargill and Asuka do not have the backstory that the men’s match does, but they make up for it with pure intensity. Both women are very intense individuals, and that will provide for a stiff match. We aren’t going to get great wrestling here; it’s going to be a slugfest that could steal the show.

Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez Stealing The Show

It is a shame that Liv Morgan suffered her injury, but her absence has pushed these two former rivals together. WWE had rekindled a rivalry that goes all the way back to their days in NXT. These women are no strangers to one another, and the added caveat of the street fight stipulation will make this match awesome.

Ripley and Rodriguez have encountered on other in all sorts of matches. In NXT, they were entangled in a personal and physical feud that culminated in a wonderful Last Woman Standing match. On the main roster, they haven’t been given that type of shot until now.

Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez are going to put on a show at Night of Champions. They have proven they can work well within a hardcore stipulation, and they should have no problem replicating that success.

A Stacked Undercard

With six matches slated for Night of Champions, WWE had to make sure that their undercard was strong enough to stand out against the main event matches. On paper, they have achieved that feat with two matches that are just as anticipated as the others.

Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu will start off their feud with their first match. There has been some great character development from both men during this program. They have similar styles and have a budding chemistry. This will be a long feud, but their first match should start it off on the right foot.

The other match, featuring Sami Zayn and Karrion Kross, is the product of a slow build that looks to explode. Kross has been the devil on Zayn’s shoulder, and Sami Zayn has had just about enough. It will be interesting to see how this match plays out, but both are consummate professionals, so the quality of the match should not be brought into question.

Night of Champions Implications for Summerslam

The second biggest PLE of the year, and the Biggest Party of the Summer, is just around the corner. SummerSlam is only over a month away and, with it going to two nights, WWE is going to make it an epic weekend. That being said, a lot of what happens on Saturday will determine just about everything headed into SummerSlam.

With the King and Queen of the Ring winners being decided, we will get a very clear picture of what the world championship scene will look like. At least two of the major SummerSlam matches will be decided after Saturday.

We can also assume that the undercard matches will finish in a way that lets us know how they will be treated headed into SummerSlam. For those fans of the grandeur of the Biggest Party of the Summer, it will start at Night of Champions.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on WWE Night of Champions, King of the Ring, Queen of the Ring, and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
