That allowed Stacks to get the pinfall and the Heritage Cup.

After the match, Crusifino attempted to console the Don, but got punched for his efforts, with D’Angelo declaring both men untrustworthy. It seems that he has definitively turned his back on the only person protecting him. Was that the right move, or did D’Angelo make a big mistake?

Tony D’Angelo is Right to Go Out on His Own

If this were the first time Crusifino cost D’Angelo a match, things wouldn’t have gotten to this point. However, since the two men have teamed up, there have been multiple instances where things have gotten out of hand.

D’Angelo knows that even though someone can have a tight bond with you, they can still betray you if they want to. He hit Crusifino because he’s lost multiple matches by getting “accidentally” shot by his only friend.

There have been many times where he’s pledged his loyalty, but the same thing happening every match is purely coincidental in his eyes.

He also hasn’t forgotten how Stacks had the opportunity to hurt Crusifino in the desert but chose not to for a reason yet to be revealed. D’Angelo obviously suspects an alliance between the two men, which is why he punched Crusifino after the match.

He Might Be Making a Huge Mistake

There have been a lot of things that have been taken from D’Angelo by Stacks over the past couple of months. He took away their friendship, and Crusifino’s loyalty has been tested, and Adriana Rizzo is hiding away from the drama.

If someone’s life gets turned upside down within a matter of weeks, they’re obviously not going to be in the right mindset regarding decision-making. D’Angelo might be thinking that he’s making the right move by severing ties with Crusifino.

However, there’s no solid proof of him and Stacks in a partnership. The Don might have put his former friend in more danger now that he’s given up on him.

Maybe everything Crusifino did was accidental, and he does have loyalty to D’Angelo. By going to Stacks by himself, D’Angelo might’ve made the whole situation worse by not thinking clearly.

Where Does D’Angelo Go From Here?

With the Great American Bash in two and a half weeks, it’s logical to think D’Angelo will have a match. However, he is at a crossroads with his current situation. Declaring both Stacks and Crusifino untrustworthy creates double the problems for him.

He might want a rematch for the Heritage Cup, which Stacks definitely would wish to. But without anyone by his side, he will be at a tremendous disadvantage.

But we don’t know Crusifino’s side of the story yet. He might be angry at the Don for betraying him, or he might’ve been working with Stacks the whole time. That might cause D’Angelo to focus his attention away from his former underboss for the time being.

Either way, the D’Angelo Family is finished and will never be reuniting. Tony D’Angelo’s actions on Tuesday showed paranoia that will directly impact his future in NXT in a major way.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on Tony D’Angelo, WWE NXT and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
