For the lucky men and women who are in the match, a chance exists to propel themselves into the main event picture.

By grabbing the briefcase, they are guaranteed a shot at their chosen world championship when they see fit. This means that patience is usually a virtue as people wait for the most opportune time to use their advantage.

Now, for some, the wait is just something that they are not willing to do. Some wrestlers have not even been able to hold out the night in which they won before cashing in their championship opportunity. These six cash-ins that happened the same night as the wrestler won them, some have been great, and some not so much.

Here they are ranked.

6. Kane (Money in the Bank 2010)

The very first Money in the Bank PLE was not one without surprises. WWE decided to give us a first right out of the gate with Kane cashing in his contract a mere hour after winning the titular match.

It was a big surprise for the show, and it was awesome to see Kane winning a World Championship after years of loyal service to the company. However, there had to be someone holding up the bottom of this list, and Kane is the man to do it.

His cash-in followed a mediocre World Championship match, which he got involved in. It was an odd run-in and slightly diminished the importance of his cash-in seconds later.

There was no drama surrounding the cash-in. Not a single person expected that Rey Mysterio was going to rise against the Big Red Machine. That bit of drama really adds something extra to the usually short matches.

Looking at the reign that followed doesn’t help the cash-in. Kane held the championship for five months, but it was a reign with little fanfare. His cash-in was a great idea, but there were many failures in the execution.

5. Liv Morgan (Money in the Bank 2022)

Liv Morgan may be one of the best on the roster today, but even three years ago, she was still a largely unproven talent. She was thrust into the Money in the Bank ladder match against many heavy hitters. Her winning the match was a shock, but it might not have been the right shock, as some fans rebelled against her capturing the briefcase.

Flash forward a few hours, and Morgan didn’t waste much time, rushing to the ring and cashing in her contract on Ronda Rousey. It was following a very underwhelming WWE Women’s Championship match, and Rousey wasn’t ripe for the picking, as they say. Sure, Rousey was sporting a limp, but that shouldn’t have stopped her from getting the best of Liv Morgan.

This cash-in seemed to be shock for shock’s sake. It got a good pop from the crowd, but the roll-up win didn’t do much to show Liv as a threat.

It was more of a “lucky to be there” sentiment than anything. A sentiment that followed her for the remainder of her championship run.

4. Drew McIntyre (Money in the Bank 2024)

Drew McIntyre’s entrance into the Money in the Bank match was telegraphing events from a mile away. He had made no secret that he was on a mission to regain the championship that he had only briefly held at WrestleMania. He was also not a man of patience, and following his win, the world was waiting for the World Heavyweight Championship match.

McIntyre coming out, nearing the end of the World Championship match, was something we were all waiting for. What we were also all waiting for was the eventual CM Punk interference that ended up costing McIntyre the match. It was fun to see the program between Punk and McIntyre hit another level, but did it have to come at the expense of Money in the Bank?

This is a match that is supposed to elevate its winner. In this instance, the briefcase was used more as a prop to further a program that had no issue with heat. There were many other ways in which that could have been achieved.

3. Alexa Bliss (Money in the Bank 2018)

Alexa Bliss winning Money in the Bank was a massive moment. She had been a champion before, but was now starting to get great reactions from the crowd. The fans were salivating for her eventual cash-in, but they didn’t have to wait very long.

Ronda Rousey and Nia Jax were in the midst of a very physical Raw Women’s Championship match when Bliss snuck into the ring and proceeded to beat both women with her briefcase. It was smart booking to have her interject, and her beatdown on both women was perfect. A vicious side was shown for Bliss, and the crowd popped hard when she covered Jax for the victory.

There was also another layer to this cash-in, as Nia Jax was the one who defeated Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship to begin with. They were friends turned enemies, and Bliss got the ultimate revenge by using her advantage to take the championship away from Jax.

2. Bayley (Money in the Bank 2019)

Bayley was in sore need of a character change in 2019. She had been on the main roster for 3 years, at this point, and the Hugger was starting to get stale. Then the night of Money in the Bank hit, and his career trajectory skyrocketed to the top of WWE.

When Charlotte Flair won the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Becky Lynch, she and Lacey Evans continued to beat Lynch down. Her friend and Money in the Bank winner, Bayley, came to her aid to a massive ovation. The crowd wasn’t sure if Bayley would cash in, but they were relieved when Bayley came to her senses and cashed in to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

This was a career-changing victory for Bayley. Following this win, she embarked on a 380-day reign as champion, which involved a brilliant heel turn. From that night on, Bayley was a major player in WWE.

1. Dean Ambrose (Money in the Bank 2016)

Money in the Bank 2016 was a historic night for a wide variety of reasons. First was the meeting between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. A match that had Rollings vying for the championship he never lost, and Reigns looking to solidify his position as the Big Dawg.

It was a great match that had Rollins going over his Shield brethren, but it wasn’t the biggest moment of the night. The second Dean Ambrose’s music hit the crowd went bonkers. He had just won Money in the Bank, and the history between himself and Rollins meant revenge was on the table.

These two men hated each other, and Rollins had ducked Ambrose at every opportunity. Now, there was no running away.

Ambrose blasted The Architect with his briefcase and went on to win his first WWE Championship. It was a huge win for Ambrose and was the culmination of over two years of storytelling between those two rivals.

Also, it was a nice moment to see all three members of the Shield hold the WWE Championship in one night. All-in-all, it was the perfect way to pull off the same night cash-in.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on Money in the Bank, and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
