Forever chasing an adrenaline rush, Allin continues to blend his penchant for the extreme with impressive in-ring prowess. His latest challenge – climbing Mount Everest – has been well documented in the mainstream media. But never one to be satisfied by even the rarest of feats, Allin thought of a novel way to make his achievement a bit more special.

An avid skateboarder, the AEW star took his mammoth climb as an opportunity to break a world record. Posted to his Instagram, Allin managed to pull off a kickflip near the summit of the world’s tallest mountain. Deep into his climb, Allin’s lack of trademark features make him almost unrecognizable in the clip. A full black beard and a lack of face paint presented an image of Allin not usually afforded to fans.

Darby Allin: Risk-Taker and (Now) Record-Breaker

The clip of Allin completing the kickflip was filmed at Everest Camp 2 – just 8,000 feet below the mountain’s summit. During the video, Allin showed his current elevation using a digital watch. Sitting at 20,958 feet above sea level, Allin claimed that he had completed the kickflip with the highest elevation ever.

Most Mount Everest climbs take around two months and Allin began his ascent at the beginning of March. Therefore, he is expected to finish in June. The length of time is attributed to the acclimatization needed for the low oxygen environment. The video suggests that Allin is in good health and high spirits. A month into the trek and 8,000 feet beneath the summit, Allin is progressing well with his latest feat.

Allin ‘Grateful’ to AEW For Allowing Him to Climb Everest

It is an accomplishment that has been on Allin’s bucket list for some time now. The original plan was to climb Everest last year but a foot injury forced Allin to postpone the trek. While the original trek was halted by a physical issue, the climb itself is all about Allin’s mental strength.

“I want to always dig deep down inside and remind myself of what I am capable of and who I am,” said Allin during an interview with Wrestling Inc. “I’m very excited for that opportunity to do with Everest and very grateful that AEW is letting me do this in the middle of my career.”

Allin’s last match before his Everest preparation began was a draw against Ricochet at the end of December. Rather than announcing a sabbatical ahead of the climb, Allin used the break from his AEW schedule to leave the fans with a typically risky spot to remember him by. On the December 27th episode of AEW Rampage, Allin was thrown down a stairwell by The Death Riders. The storyline injury allowed him to be removed from television and begin his preparations. When he returns to AEW is another question.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – AEW – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on AEW Dynamite Preview and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
