The night opened up with an extensive recap of WrestleMania Week featuring clips from WWE World, various interviews, the Hall of Fame, and of course the two show-stopping nights. Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins were seen getting out of the same car followed by entrances from the new women’s tag team champions, new Intercontinental Champion, and new world champion Jey Uso before John Cena’s music hit to officially kick us off into the new era.

The Champs are Here

Much like at WrestleMania, Cena entered to his black entrance with no frills, no thrills. But something was different, Cena was wearing the belt for the first time in years having won the title for the record-breaking 17th time at WrestleMania. Fireworks erupted as Cena held the belt high with a scowl on his face. Cena walked around the ring, taking in the dueling chants and boos before handing a piece of paper to the ring announcer with the introduction Cena deserved. The greatest of all-time, the never seen 17, gracing Las Vegas with his presence for the final time, the last real champion.

“Winners write history,” Cena opened his promo before beginning to eviscerate the fans as he has been doing for weeks. Cena said the fans bullied him over the last few weeks and they thought they could just show up tonight and he’s supposed to forgive them? Cena said that was not how a functional relationship works. He said the fans can still go straight to hell as they don’t matter. They owe him an apology. Fans tried with a “we are sorry/no we aren’t” dueling chant to which Cena said they are sorry, the sorriest lowlifes he’s ever seen. The fans began an asshole chant as Cena called them soft. He’s taken their best over the years but has always gotten back up. He tells the Vegas crowd they won’t be the crowd to finally crack him as they mean nothing and their noise means nothing.

36. That’s the only thing that means something. When Cena appeared on the Raw on Netflix debut he said he had 36 dates left before he was done. And time passes quickly as Cena reminded the fans of the dates they already lost. After tonight, it’s down to 27. When that clock hits zero, he’s gone. Cena made sure to clarify, its not 36 matches, its 36 appearances. Fans say he can’t wrestle, well he doesn’t have to. He just has to show up and that’s the easy part. Cena said when that number of dates hits zero, he’s taking the title held by Bruno Sammartino, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, and so many others home with him.

Cena said he’s the last real undisputed champion and getting the title, that was the hard part. The rest of this is going to be a cake walk. Cena said the best chance fans had was Cody Rhodes, who received boos to which Cena called the fans out before saying Rhodes was outshined, outclassed and outwrestled on Sunday. But…Cena wasn’t heartless so he told the fans to take out their phones and get a photo to remember this moment when they saw the last real champ. Cena couldn’t soak in the moment too long however though as lurking behind him was none other than his greatest rival, Randy Orton, who hit the champ with an RKO outta nowhere.

Later in the night, WWE’s other new champ received a hero’s welcome as Jey Uso was led to the ring with a fantastic video package recapping his career to this point. He made his typical entrance, yeeting through the crowd before making it to the arena to chants of “You deserve it.” Main event, no world heavyweight champ Jey Uso was in their city and the Vegas crowd was absolutely hot for the star. The crowd even chanting “one more time,”to which Uso’s music played again from the back for another few seconds of yeeting. It was a pretty incredible moment for a tag team wrestler who very few probably thought would ever have this moment.

Uso began by telling the fans how much he’s wanted this, ever since he was a kid. He was here now, after a long, hard road. At WrestleMania, he gave everything he had and not only did he beat Gunther, he made him tap. The crowd chanted, “he tapped out.” Uso said he’s grateful and happy to finally have the belt. He’s going to show up every day and put the work in. As Uso was celebrating, Sami Zayn arrived. Zayn immediately embraced his friend as the crowd chanted “Sami Uso.” Zayn told Uso missing the last several months and not being there while Uso was going through everything with Gunther was hard on him. Missing WrestleMania this year was hard on him too. He said he almost didn’t come to Las Vegas but he had to, because he had to make sure he was the first one to congratulate Uso and tell him how proud he is of him. Zayn said he’s his brother, he loves him, and he deserves the title. He knows it, Uso knows it, and now everyone else knows it too. Zayn says this is Raw after Mania so they are there to celebrate. He tells them to hit Uso’s music as the crowd resumes yeeting.

Zayn and Uso embraced as Jimmy Uso’s music hit and he joined his brother and honorary Uce in the ring. Jimmy gave Jey and Zayn hugs before the three shared their signature handshake in the middle of the ring before the three men made their way back to the top of the ramp. This was Uso’s moment. No interruptions, no interferences, no RKOs outta nowhere. WWE let Uso have his shine in a moment that served to remind everyone why he got that moment in the first place. Uso may not be the best wrestler a Triple H acknowledged, but he has an incredible It factor and is exceptionally over with the crowd no matter where he goes.

Best of the Rest

Jackie Redmond is backstage with AJ Styles who says he took the loss but he’s going to move on as part of being phenomenal is being able to bounce back. Karrion Kross arrived to say there is no bouncing back because now that Styles lost to Paul, he legitimized him. Styles says he’s never going back to the guy he was a year ago as he hates looking at that guy in the mirror. He tells Kross he can solve the Paul problem himself to which Kross replies, maybe he will.

A Town Down Under said they should be number one contenders for the tag team championship now that Rusev took out the Alpha Academy. They were interrupted by the War Raiders which led A Town Down Under to back off. War Raiders said the world watched the New Day run for their lives after they stole the titles at WrestleMania. But Raw is War is they aren’t going away that easily.

Gunther was ringside as the crowd chanted “you tapped out.” He told them to shut up as he was the greatest and nothing has changed. Gunther ripped the headset off of Michael Cole before pushing Pat McAfee and putting Cole in a chokehold. McAfee pushed back to save Cole before security arrived. They could only hold Gunther back for so long though as he got McAfee into a chokehold. McAfee’s friends at ringside tried to make the save, but security held them back as Gunther continued choking out McAfee. Security finally escorted Gunther away as McAfee got to his feet and was helped to the back, visibly struggling to breathe. In the back, McAfee was led off for medical attention as Cole returned to the table after saying he wasn’t going to let a bully stop him from doing his job. Joe Tessitore was waiting for him there.

Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman closed out the night as the two arrived to the ring together in what felt like a surreal moment. Rollins stood in the ring and embraced cheers at first but then boos as he offered up his usual entrance. He’s a visionary. He stole Roman Reigns’ wiseman, CM Punk’s best friend. He won the main event of WrestleMania. He’s…Cue Cult of Personality. Rollins took his jacket off prepared for battle as Punk hastened his way down the ramp. Punk hit the ring and he and Rollins immediately began going after each other. Punk brutally beat down Rollins as Heyman watched. Punk then turned to Heyman as the crowd chanted “you f**ed up.” Punk went after Heyman but Rollins made the save and took Punk out with a stomp. Chants of OTC rang out as Heyman took the mic. “We want Roman” chants were next. Heyman said the weekend of WrestleMania 41 was concluded and it was now time to head toward WrestleMania 42. Heyman said there is a new reigning, defending, undisputed top star in this industry as he announced his new client had arrived. But not so fast as Reigns’ music hit. Rollins threw Punk out of the ring as he waited for Reigna to make his way down the ramp. Reigns charged the ring and hit Rollins with a spear before turning and hitting Heyman with a Superman Punch. He readied anothe spear but Bron Breakker intercepted. He and Rollins stared each other down before Breakker speared Punk. Rollins embraced the former Intercontinental champ and sent him after Reigns. Breakker charged the ringside area and hit Reigns with a massive spear right through the barricade. Rollins had Breakker drag Reigns back in the ring. He hit Punk with a stomp before turning to Reigns and telling him the future runs through him. Then, a stomp to Reigns as the camera panned in on Heyman smirking.

Rollins, Heyman, and Breakker stood strong. Seems there are two new Paul Heyman guys.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on WWE Raw tonight, Raw after Mania, and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
