It began with a series of co-promoted cards, such as <strong>Global Wars<\/strong> and <strong>War of the Worlds<\/strong>, that resulted in NJPW taking the leap to having it&#8217;s first ever NJPW show on US soil last year for the <em><strong>G1 Special in USA<\/strong><\/em>, which sold over 2300 fans for both nights of the two day affair at the Long Beach Convention Center in early July of this year that crowned the inaugural IWGP United States Champion in <strong>Kenny Omega.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13387\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13387\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13387\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/r227088_600x338_16-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/r227088_600x338_16-9.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/r227088_600x338_16-9-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13387\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: NJPW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At 5000 seats sold, it makes <em>Strong Style Evolved <\/em>one of the largest non-WWE wrestling events since the end of the territory days. The current record is <strong>Impact Wrestling<\/strong>&#8216;s 2013 <strong><em>Lockdown<\/em><\/strong> event, which drew 7200 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Impact&#8217;s <em><strong>Slammiversary 2012<\/strong><\/em> drew 5500 people at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas for it&#8217;s 10 year anniversary show. NJPW&#8217;s <em>Strong Style Evolved <\/em>will break Ring of Honor&#8217;s highest attendance for a live event in the US, beating <em><strong>ROH Supercard of Honor XI<\/strong> <\/em>from last spring in Lakeland, Florida during <strong>WrestleMania<\/strong> weekend, which drew 3500 people to the Lakeland Center.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13388\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13388\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13388\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/ladder-match-e1517260879485.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"298\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13388\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Ring of Honor<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So far, no matches have been announced for the March 25 card for <em>Strong Style Evolved<\/em>, but rumors seem to point to <strong>Chris Jericho<\/strong>&#8216;s match against <strong>Tetsuya Naito<\/strong>, based on Jericho&#8217;s attack at <em><strong>New Year Dash 2018<\/strong><\/em>, as happening at the event, plus a potential showdown between <strong>Kenny Omega<\/strong> and <strong>Kota Ibushi<\/strong> against <strong>Cody Rhodes<\/strong> and <strong>Hangman Page<\/strong>,<a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/2018\/01\/28\/switchblade-victorious-kenny-omega-and-kota-ibushi-reunite\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> following the events of <em><strong>The New Beginning in Sapporo<\/strong> <\/em>Night 2<\/a>. In the territorial days, the largest non-WWE\/WWF event was\u00a0<em><strong>WCCW Parade of Champions<\/strong> <\/em>in 1984, that drew 32,123 people to the Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas (headlined by NWA World Champion <strong>Ric Flair<\/strong> vs <strong>Kerry Von Erich<\/strong>), followed by <em><strong>AWA Comiskey Park<\/strong> <\/em>in 1970 (headlined by <strong>The Vachon Brothers<\/strong> vs. <strong>Dick The Bruiser &amp; The Crusher<\/strong> for the AWA Tag Team titles), with 30,000. The NWA&#8217;s largest attendance was the 1985 <em><strong>Great American Bash<\/strong><\/em>, headlined by <strong>Dusty Rhodes<\/strong> vs <strong>Magnum TA<\/strong> for the NWA World Television title, with Ric Flair defending his NWA World title against <strong>Nikita Koloff<\/strong>, drawing 27,000.
