The first post-Dynasty episode of AEW Collision offers a buffet of bangers and then some. With three delectable servings of Owen Hart Tournament action, AEW fans are going to be well-fed. Although, we are happy to overindulge. We’re also getting a scoop of vanilla (baby), an explanation from FTR, and likely more Dynasty fallout.<\/p>\n
AEW has months to go until All In but The Owen and the return of The Young Bucks means the road is being paved. Compared to the last few years, it feels smoother with less creative potholes<\/a>. Creative has almost turned the corner<\/a>. If not for Jon Moxley retaining his AEW World Championship, of course.<\/p>\n With a special Spring Breakthru Dynamite next week to mark AEW becoming the longest running wrestling show on Turner Sports, big things will be set up. The groundwork for Wednesday is going to happen Saturday.<\/p>\n Saturday nights alright for sickos!<\/p>\n At Dynasty, Rated FTR imploded. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler betrayed and dismantled their former best friend, Cope. Piledriver. Shatter Machine. Spiked piledriver on a steel chair. Cope was taken out on a stretcher.<\/p>\n Many fans are glad to see the turn. It’s a symptom of modern wrestling fandom.<\/p>\n The catharsis of seeing a stale wrestler change. From MJF to John Cena in WWE<\/a>, we love seeing wrestlers return to their old ways or become something new.<\/p>\n For a while, fans have waited patiently for FTR to come full circle, back to their heel roots. The first statement after the turn is key. It sets up expectations for what’s to come.<\/p>\n Harwood and Wheeler get a chance to cut loose. Justify their betrayal, set out their new mission statement, and tease what’s to come.<\/p>\n Also, who the new heels may feud with first. Could we finally see FTR clash with former friends, The Outrunners? Are they going to turn their attention towards The Hurt Syndicate and interlink with former stablemate, MJF’s pursuit of friends?<\/p>\n We’ll soon see.<\/p>\n Two distinct women’s matches for the Owen Hart Tournament this week with two different vibes. Between them is an interconnected long-term story that may transfer partly over from ROH to AEW. Athena and her minion, Billie Starkz, will compete against two of the AEW division’s finest.<\/p>\n Starkz faces Jamie Hayter in a rematch. Ending last time with ropes-assisted Hayterade, the Brit took the W.<\/p>\n It was a hard-hitting affair with the 20 proteges of Athena unable to overcome the veteran’s power. Could an upset happen?<\/p>\n Elsewhere, Harley Cameron vs. Athena is going to entertain for different reasons. What Cameron lacks in in-ring experience, she makes up for in character.<\/p>\n Following last week’s tag match, Athena has a perfect foil against which to contrast herself.
