Blue Blazer \u2013 Owen Hart\u2019s Heroic Alter Ego<\/h2>\n

One of WWE\u2019s most well-known masked personas, the Blue Blazer, was portrayed by Owen Hart. Debuting in the late 1980s, the Blazer was a high-flying, superhero-like character meant to showcase Owen\u2019s incredible in-ring abilities.<\/p>\n

While the gimmick faded as Owen transitioned into his own persona, he briefly revived it in the late 1990s as part of a comedic storyline. Unfortunately, this return ended in tragedy at Over the Edge 1999, when Owen lost his life due to a stunt gone wrong.<\/p>\n

The Blue Blazer remains a bittersweet memory in wrestling history.<\/p>\n

Mr. America \u2013 Hulk Hogan in Disguise<\/h2>\n

Who could possibly be behind the mysterious Mr. America? Well, according to storyline logic, it definitely wasn\u2019t Hulk Hogan, despite looking, talking, and wrestling exactly like him. Introduced in 2003, the Mr. America gimmick was WWE\u2019s way of keeping Hogan on television amid real-life contract disputes.<\/p>\n

With a red, white, and blue mask, Hogan played along, hilariously denying his true identity even as Vince McMahon desperately tried to expose him. The persona was short-lived, disappearing after Hogan left WWE that year.<\/p>\n

The Calgary Kid \u2013 A Miz-terious Victory<\/h2>\n

Before he became \u201cThe Most Must-See WWE Superstar,\u201d The Miz briefly donned a mask as The Calgary Kid in 2009. This persona was a one-night-only stunt used in a contract-on-a-pole match on Monday Night Raw.<\/p>\n

The Miz, having been “fired” in storyline, returned under the mask, won the match, and unmasked immediately afterward to reveal his true identity. While Calgary Kid didn\u2019t last, it was a clever way to reintroduce The Miz and give him a fresh start.<\/p>\n

The Midnight Rider \u2013 Dusty Rhodes’ Clever Comeback<\/h2>\n

Though not a WWE creation, The Midnight Rider was one of the most iconic masked personas in wrestling. Created by Dusty Rhodes, this identity was used in various promotions, including WWE’s past territories.<\/p>\n

When Rhodes was “suspended” in storyline, he would return under the mask as the Midnight Rider, keeping kayfabe alive while continuing to wrestle. The gimmick inspired later WWE storylines, including those featuring Mr. America and Juan Cena.<\/p>\n

Juan Cena \u2013 John Cena\u2019s Hilarious Alter Ego<\/h2>\n

Speaking of John Cena, the 16-time world champion<\/a> briefly played his own masked persona: Juan Cena. After being \u201cfired\u201d from WWE in 2010, Cena reappeared under a luchador mask at live events, humorously insisting he wasn\u2019t the same person. While this gimmick was purely for comedic effect, it remains one of the funnier masked storylines in WWE history.<\/p>\n
