More mitosis than meiosis, as the quality of each hour remained high, we’re treated to two hours of wrestling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

After another strong Dynamite, Saturday’s going to provide more developments heading into Dynasty. Some contests may prove foundational in setting up the PPV card.

For example, could Athena return to AEW after Mercedes Mone dispatched Minion 4,237 and 3/4s last week? Might Top Flight upset the Learning Tree and, like The Outrunners before them, challenge The Hurt Syndicate at Dynasty?

Obviously, that’s without considering the chance of noise and fireworks (AKA bangers) in-ring as Jamie Hayter returns. Plus, Jay White takes on NJPW’s Kevin Knight, who has stated his desire to breathe with the switchblade online.

It’s wrestling, and someone’s about to get as oiled as a diesel train.

AEW Collision Matches Announced:

Top Flight vs. Bryan Keith and Big Bill

Wheeler Yuta vs. Dax Harwood

Mercedes Mone in action

Jamie Hayter vs. Queen Aminata

Jay White vs. Kevin Knight

Jamie Hayter Returns for Stiff Competition

After renewing her visa, Jamie Hayter returns to AEW to face Queen Aminata in a match where heads and necks will be left sore, and teeth may be loose on Sunday morning. Already this year, Queen Aminata’s run of form suggests she’ll soon break out of her rookie status with a significant win.

Her trilogy with Julia Hart reminded fans of Aminata’s deadly capabilities. The execution of her strikes and lethal feet in Aminata’s second match with Hart appeared to knock the former princess loopy.

Could an upset happen? Considering Serena Deeb’s attempts to aid the Guinean, it could impact the match if Aminata accepts the game plan.

For Hayter, Saturday’s a chance to get back in title contention after a brief absence. Since Hayter’s return, her only loss was a tainted pinfall to Julia Hart, who came out victorious last week against Aminata.

Afterwards, could that third match happen? Or, if Hayter picks up the win, will she perhaps step up to challenge Mercedes Mone?

There are lots of possibilities. I’ve suggested when looking at Toni Storm vs. Megan Bayne an interesting direction for Jamie Hayter that you can read about here.

Wheeler Yuta vs. Dax Harwood

With the AEW World Trios Championship match set for Dynasty, this one-on-one taster match provides both men with a big opportunity. For Wheeler Yuta specifically, there is a chance to continue his own individual character progression.

Facing Cope recently delivered a strong match. It also temporarily put a question mark over the Death Rider runt’s loyalty.

Harwood has a history in the gatekeeper role, where he’s helped elevate younger wrestlers. Think January 2021 when Jungle Boy defeated Harwood. It was a physical encounter that helped put both tag team men on the radar as singles competitors.

Not all Harwood singles matches are standouts (see January’s match against Chris Jericho). However, with the added drama of a potential heel turn and Yuta’s uncertain loyalties, there’s potential for character development and emotional investment.

If Harwood commits to a more vicious and heel-like style, giving Yuta more sympathy and a bigger uphill challenge, this match may build higher expectations for their Dynasty trios match and for Yuta.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – AEW – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on AEW Collision preview and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
