Page mentioned MJF’s bravado. In addition, he pointed out that MJF still seems upset. MJF, however, met that with all of Page’s wrongdoings. He then pointed out the fans’ love of Page. Subsequently, he asked if he loved himself after all he’s done. Page touted his honesty over MJF. The Long-Islander cried out that he had to work for everything whereas Page was groomed for his path. Challenged to name one thing Page was better at, he answered “I am real.” MJF concluded: “You can be the main character all you want. I have no problem being the bad guy.” Security intervened, as Christopher Daniels appealed to Page.

Strong confrontation, and a much-needed one. Both men made excellent points. Each verbal barb pricked well, and each wound’s reaction was earned with each puncture. The dichotomy of Page and MJF is palpable and I’m ready to see them lock up. Short build thus far, but a compelling one.

— Roderick Strong promo addressing Revolution International Championship Series against Orange Cassidy

The Ops (Samoa Joe, HOOK, & Katsuyori Shibata) defeated The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, Kip Sabian, & Nick Wayne)

Shibata took on Wayne, trapping him in the ways of Strong Style. Sabian joined, hoping to help Wayne. Shibata held his own, but the overall numbers ultimately forced him to tag in HOOK. Wayne grounded HOOK’s momentum, leading to an advantageous interference by Sabian. Cage attempted to run interference, cut off by Joe’s might. As Joe and Shibata held Cage and Sabian at bay, Wayne tapped to HOOK’s Redrum submission.

Exhilarating, albeit short. The Ops fill the role left behind by the Blackpool Combat Club and clash so well with The Patriarchy.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Big Bill in a Street Fight

Bill had the early advantage, but Hobbs quickly gained his composure. Additionally, Hobbs earned control using the power of his own body. Bill lobbed a sound mixer and keyboard on Hobbs, ceasing his comeback. Bill swung a wrench at Hobbs, yet he missed and hit the ring post. Hobbs weaponized a steel chair, battering his towering opponent. Eventually, Bill succeeded with the wrench, as a result leaving blood trickling down Hobbs’s head. Bryan Keith was sent through a table because of his distraction to Hobbs. Bill failed to capitalize, due to Hobbs employing the use of bricks and the steel steps. The pair dueled with punches until Hobbs surpassed Bill. He followed this as he slammed Bill repeatedly on the steel steps and tossed him onto the barb-wire table off the entrance ramp. Referee Aubrey Edwards counted him out at 10.

Hobbs and Bill put on a gnarly affair, satisfying the bloodlust of the AEW faithful. Hobbs’s story as someone fed up with all the distractions paid off in brutal, violent fashion. Bill continues to thrive without the presence of Chris Jericho.

— Lance Archer and Brian Cage challenged Hurt Syndicate to a Tag Team Title Match

— Justin Roberts announced AEW’s return to Phoenix, Arizona for Double or Nothing

Toni Storm celebrated her AEW Women’s World Championship win

This one is worth watching. John Cena references a movie plug, and innuendos galore.

— Video package showcasing Gabe Kidd’s arrival at AEW Collision

— Willow Nightingale’s backstage interview broken up by Marina Shafir

Death Riders call out Cope and Jay White

Jon Moxley, upset at his loss to Cope and White at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, verbalized his wish for vengeance. White emerged, taunting the Death Riders. PAC attempted to sneak up on him, but Cope sprinted out, driving away the Death Riders. Cope, with spiked plank of wood in hand, vowed to defeat Moxley at Revolution.

— Mercedes Mone challenged World Wonder Ring Stardom’s Momo Watanabe to approach her at AEW Dynamite

Kris Statlander vs Megan Bayne

These two powerhouses locked up and locked horns, withstanding each other’s blows. Statlander earned some momentum, but Bayne thwarted it with a powerful spear. Trading lariats, Bayne uprooted her opponent with a boot and dropped her with a German Suplex. Statlander caught Bayne on the apron, slamming her onto its hard surface. Exchanging fists on the top rope, Bayne plummetted to the canvas. Statlander met the same fate courtesy of a sneaky Penelope Ford. Bayne took advantage of this with a drop onto the canvas with a Press Slam.

Post-match, Bayne and Ford assaulted Statlander until Thunder Rosa made the save.

This was exactly the display of dominance expected of Statlander and Bayne. They’re tough, and this slugfest delivered. A tag match with Ford and Bayne against Rosa and Statlander is inevitable and I’m ready for it. That said, I wish the finish echoed the intensity of the match, the fans that loved it, and the post-match.

— Max Caster reminded the AEW locker room that his open challenge remained ongoing.

Ricochet and Prince Nana promo

Ricochet gloated his string of wins since joining All Elite Wrestling and insulted Swerve Strickland. Nana came out, emotionally lecturing the importance and significance of the robe Ricochet stole from Strickland. Ricochet refused, instead delivering his patented “Ahaa~” sounds he likes to make.

Orange Cassidy defeated Roderick Strong in the Revolution International Championship Series

Strong’s holds kept Cassidy at bay early on, slowed only by the fluid dodges of his opponent. Each time he sent Strong out of and back into the ring, he awkwardly met Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole to amusing effect. Strong finally got a concrete hold of Cassidy, slingshotting him off the top rope onto the mat. Soon, Cassidy launched a fiery comeback, silkily slipping through Strong’s attempts. He crumpled Strong with a Stundog Millionaire, but it wasn’t enough to put him away. Strong crunched Cassidy with a series of Backbreakers to no avail. Repeatedly, Strong failed to lock in a Stronghold, opting for a Texas Cloverleaf; Cassidy quelled this with a rope break. Strong launched a last-ditch effort with another Backbreaker but fell to one more Stundog Millionaire and an Orange Punch.

Post-match, Don Callis sent Konosuke Takeshita and Mark Davis to trample an already-worn Cassidy. Kenny Omega emerged for the save. He shared a staredown with Cassidy before hanging Takeshita’s International Championship over the top rope as the show went off the air.

Somehow an improvement on a previously amazing match, Cassidy and Strong had a ridiculously fun outing. These contrasting styles proved to be a thrilling mixture. Strong, at this point in his career, still delivers his hard-hitting offense. Cassidy, the bigger star, never fails to put on memorable performances with wrestlers of his caliber.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – AEW – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on AEW Dynamite results and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
