Earlier today, Triple H aka Paul Levesque, announced the arrival of the WWE ID Championship titles, one each for the men and women. These titles are the first of their kind as they are designed for the WWE ID prospects to win and defend across the independent circuit.<\/p>\n
In October of 2024, WWE revealed the creation of the WWE ID program<\/a>. Designed to help provide pathways for independent wrestlers training at a handful of affiliate schools, the goal of WWE ID is twofold. Not only is the program meant to help wrestling prospects receive development and mentorship under the WWE umbrella<\/a>, but it also serves to help feed the ecosystem of professional wrestling by providing support and resources to the affiliate schools. WWE ID schools receive enhanced opportunities including behind-the-scenes content, match highlights, and more to showcase these wrestlers on WWE platforms<\/a>. And as announced Tuesday, there are now also championships which can be won by WWE ID wrestlers.<\/p>\n The WWE ID schools as part of the pilot program should come as no surprise as many are run by wrestlers with former or present connections with the company. Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling, known most notably for bringing up Roxanne Perez, is joined by Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory, Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy, Rikishi’s KnokX Pro Entertainment and Academy, and the Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center. In addition, wrestlers have been ID’d across notable indies including Game Changer Wrestling, Beyond Wrestling, Freelance Wrestling, and a Pro Wrestling NOAH tryout. The first WWE ID match took place at the WWN Supershow in December and the first full match for WWE ID dropped on the account’s X in January.<\/p>\n In WWE ID’s most recent tweet, it was announced that the first winners of the two new WWE ID Championship titles will be decided in a tournament that will be held across various indies. The winners will then have the opportunity to defend their titles in those independent promotions, a truly game changing opportunity.
