It all started with Liv Morgan attacking IYO Sky backstage before Rhea Ripley ran her off. But it was all a ruse, allowing Raquel Rodriguez to attack Ripley. Judgment Day stood tall over Sky and Ripley as their coordinated attack was pulled off flawlessly.

Leading into the match on WWE Raw tonight, Sky favored the shoulder that Morgan targeted backstage. At points in the match that became part of the story as Morgan continued to focus on Sky’s injury. Morgan took advantage of both Sky’s injury and the numbers game as Rodriguez made herself known at ringside, all unseen by the referee. The two wrestled a fantastic bout though, interferences aside as both Morgan and Sky had a chance to showcase why they both lasted over one hour in the rumble, entering at one and two. Not showing any lasting effects of that brutal, the two ladies put on a show for the fans. The two exchanged maneuvers and periods of advantage throughout the lengthy match with Morgan utilizing some of her Judgment Day-inspired moves including the Three Amigos from Dominik Mysterio and Backstabber from Carlito and Sky neutralizing Morgan at times with her talent off the ropes.

Sky looked to have the match won on a moonsault but Rodriguez provided a distraction allowing Morgan to get the knees up. This led to Ripley running in to negate Rodriguez’ impact on the match. Morgan took advantage though, grabbing at Ripley’s hair leading to Ripley slapping her. And that led to the bell being rung as Ripley had caused a disqualification. As Morgan laughed in the ring, it was announced that she was moving on to the 2025 Elimination Chamber. Ripley tried to apologize to Sky after the match but Sky stormed off.

Whether Morgan intentionally caused the disqualification remains to be seen, but it would be very on-brand if she had orchestrated that entire scenario, knowing Ripley would hit back. At that point in the match, Morgan was definitely on her heels and it seemed likely Sky was going to walk away with the win. Morgan bated Ripley and it worked masterfully.

CM Punk Outlasts Sami Zayn in Instant Classic

Sami Zayn and CM Punk have both been wrestling for decades, having shared time in various indies, Ring of Honor, and briefly WWE. And yet, the two have never wrestled in a singles match against each other. Never. Not in WWE, not in ROH, not in any other promotion. You wouldn’t have known that watching the match on WWE Raw tonight however as these two had great in-ring chemistry, almost anticipating each others’ every move.

Punk and Zayn opened with a lot of ground-based wrestling in basically a power struggle. Each looked for an early edge, a weakness in their opponent, and a chance to show their strengths. Zayn was the early aggressor, it being clear the last few weeks and everything everyone has been saying to him, was motivating him in that moment. Zayn knew his WrestleMania chances and more specifically his chance to win his first-ever world title, hung in the balance. Punk too was focused, knowing that his WrestleMania main event dream relied on his ability to defeat Zayn and then go on and win the 2025 Elimination Chamber. It was clear just how much this meant to both men and it showed in their wrestling.

Both Punk and Zayn had the crowd behind them, with dueling chants often being heard. Both attempted early near falls and both found ways to target their opponents like when Punk began working over Zayn’s elbow and shoulder. Zayn and Punk wrestled on the mat, outside of the ring, and on the ropes, with each countering maneuvers, including each other’s finishers multiple times, and hitting huge spots. As the match neared its end, Zayn countered a series of GTS’ even reversing one into a roll-up that Punk just barely kicked out. But in the end, Punk scouted Zayn’s moves, and as Zayn positioned Punk for a Helluva Kick, Punk countered, hitting the GTS and securing his trip to the 2025 Elimination Chamber in March.

After the match on WWE Raw tonight, Kevin Owens returned, brutally attacking Zayn, clearly charting their course to a WrestleMania grudge match.

Elimination Chamber 2025 Card

As of February 3rd, the Elimination Chamber matches look like this:

Men’s Elimination Chamber: CM Punk (qualified 2/3), John Cena (entered 1/30)

Women’s Elimination Chamber: Liv Morgan (qualified 2/3)

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE

Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on the 2025 Elimination Chamber qualifying matches from WWE Raw tonight, and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
