Last year, it marked the first additional PPV outside of the company\u2019s big four and <strong>NJPW<\/strong> crossover match.<\/p>\n<p>The next three months feature one PPV for each consecutive month, changing the amount of time and potential build for feud and storyline payoffs. There is also the potential change in the AEW world championship landscape and the company, depending on the outcome of the main event.<\/p>\n<p>But elsewhere on the card, while there is a strong offering of potential bangers and match-stealers, there are risky prospects and contests that don\u2019t have the same emotional heft. Perhaps for me, it\u2019s because I\u2019m concerned about history repeating itself in various ways.<\/p>\n<p>As I wrote last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/10\/04\/aew-is-not-perfect-and-thats-fine\/\" target=\"_self\">AEW isn\u2019t perfect and that\u2019s fine<\/a>, but AEW fans want that metaphorical momentum to be sustained and cultivated into more success. Returning to Washington again, three home-state boys, and a home-state girl in <strong>Aubrey Edwards<\/strong>, will feature in various but integral roles on the card.<\/p>\n<p>Some contests will begin shaping AEW\u2019s final quarter of 2024. Others will be one-offs.<\/p>\n<p>Like previous AEW PPVs this year, it\u2019s got the potential to steal headlines. Good and bad reasons depend on the balance, pacing, results, and payoffs.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s event occurred during a strange period of creative chaos and inconsistency for AEW and yet, it delivered awesome action and some big twists. Including the debut of <strong>Adam Copeland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With the recent addition of <strong>MVP <\/strong>and <strong>Shelton Benjamin<\/strong>, will <strong>Bobby Lashley<\/strong> debut and become All Elite Saturday? At <em><strong>Grand Slam<\/strong>,<\/em> MVP interrupted <strong>Prince Nana<\/strong> and criticized his management of the former AEW World Champion.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve met the Head of Complaints for AEW\u2019s revamped version of <strong>The Hurt Business<\/strong>. The name <strong>The Hurt Syndicate<\/strong> was captured through a close-up of MVP\u2019s business card.<\/p>\n<p>Shelton Benjamin joining AEW brings two-thirds of the factions together. The expectation is for <strong>Bobby Lashley<\/strong> to debut on PPV.<\/p>\n<p>The question is: will Strickland ditch Prince Nana for MVP? Will Strickland turn his back on the man who stood by him, cheated for him, and even helped commit a crime because the opportunity presents itself?<\/p>\n<p>It depends on which version of Strickland we are getting. The cold-blooded killer or something new after being stabbed in the face with a needle and knocked beyond silly into the realms of <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/09\/12\/aew-violent-storytelling-and-its-disturbing-splendor\/\" target=\"_self\">disturbing violent splendor<\/a> at <strong><em>All Out<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The real question is has Strickland changed? It seems uncertain if Strickland will come along without backup. A man who made Strickland&#8217;s back in TV segments earlier this year with <strong>Will Ospreay<\/strong> and in training videos is <strong>\u201cThe Judge\u201d EJ Nduka<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>An <strong>ROH<\/strong> star, former MLW champion, and WWE development talent that <strong>Triple H<\/strong> compared to <strong>The Rock<\/strong> in terms of work ethic. Nduka\u2019s career and prospects you can read about <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/07\/08\/the-judge-ej-nduka-former-mlw-champion-and-aew-signee\/\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>AEW has, in the past, delayed gratification from such angles. Put off the decision-making and the clear direction until <strong><em>Dynamite<\/em><\/strong> in a week or two.<\/p>\n<p>Not long ago, Page said if Strickland had a thousand houses, he would burn each one down. We\u2019re not just in Strickland&#8217;s house but Strickland\u2019s state &#8211; where the feud began.<\/p>\n<p>Who says Page doesn\u2019t try to take Strickland out again? Do The Hurt Syndicate come to the rescue?<\/p>\n<h3>Show-Stealer of the Night: AEW International Championship Match<\/h3>\n<p>To say there are high expectations of <strong>Will Ospreay<\/strong> vs.<strong> Ricochet<\/strong> vs. <strong>Konosuke Takeshita<\/strong> would be to put it mildly. I\u2019ve seen online one fan on X place the graphic for the triple threat next to <strong>TNA\u2019s<\/strong><em><strong> Unbreakabl<\/strong>e<\/em> of <strong>Samoa Joe<\/strong> vs.<strong> Christopher Daniels <\/strong>vs.<strong> AJ Styles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the greatest triple threats of all time and one of TNA\u2019s greatest matches. That\u2019s a high bar.<\/p>\n<p>You have two of the best athletes and performers of 2024 and Ricochet, who should gain more confidence, conditioning, and ease with the AEW style soon. I realize that might sound harsh, but that\u2019s not shade being thrown at Ricochet.<\/p>\n<p>In<strong> WWE<\/strong>, Ricochet had to adapt to a different style while the style he helped pioneer and make popular evolved without him. Plus, never underestimate, even for pro wrestlers the issues of moving into a new place of work.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an issue of transition that\u2019s impacted other ex-WWE wrestlers from <strong>Miro <\/strong>and <strong>Andrade<\/strong> to <strong>Samoa Joe<\/strong> to <strong>Athena<\/strong>. A deeper analysis of WWE wrestlers coming to AEW can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/09\/24\/the-realities-of-war-the-inherent-risks-of-going-from-wwe-to-aew\/\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A match like this for Ricochet may allow for the former Prince Puma to steal the headlines from his opponents with an array of impressive spots and moves. As well as some incredible selling and bumps with Takeshita\u2019s raw power game.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve already seen Ospreay vs. Takeshita and Ospreay vs. Ricochet separately. Combining the three (and using a bit of reverse Steiner math) means we have a 14 2\/3 % chance of a banger.<\/p>\n<p>Weaved into this match is the start of the long-teased feud between Ospreay and The Don Callis Family. How this impacts the championship, I have speculated in a what-if article <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/10\/11\/aew-wrestledream-what-if-will-ospreay-loses\/\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>The Final Countdown Hits Zero?<\/h3>\n<p>To write that I\u2019m conflicted about the end of <strong>Bryan Danielson\u2019s<\/strong> full-time wrestling career would also be mild. On the one hand, the recent interview with <strong>Uncrowned<\/strong> where Danielson talked of losing strength in his limbs facing <strong>Kazuchika Okada<\/strong> makes me worry for the American Dragon\u2019s health in the short and long term.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, part of me, a warped part hopes that Danielson\u2019s known honesty and sincerity in interviews is a work. With so many <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/08\/28\/5-men-bryan-danielson-should-face-before-retirement-in-aew\/\" target=\"_self\">dream matches<\/a> left on the table and even <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/08\/28\/dream-matches-revisited-5-men-aews-bryan-danielson-must-wrestle-again\/\" target=\"_self\">dream rematches and series<\/a> left incomplete, if this is the end of Danielson\u2019s full-time career, hindsight will make it easier to analyze and appreciate.<\/p>\n<p>I know for myself and others, we wanted more. Most importantly, the man\u2019s health comes first.<\/p>\n<p>But we have heard this story before. Prior to <em>All In<\/em>, Danielson saying he needed neck surgery convinced some that Swerve Strickland would retain.<\/p>\n<p>So will <strong>Jon Moxley<\/strong> force the dragon, his former stable mate and friend to go fighting into that good night? Moxley\u2019s new direction has foreboded and loomed over AEW programming with the promise of a change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis isn\u2019t your company anymore.\u201d For that change to begin, the revolution needs to overthrow the old guard to create something new.<\/p>\n<p>Moxley must win, right? I\u2019ve considered that and the other larger creative concern in a what-if article <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/10\/10\/aew-wrestledream-what-if-bryan-danielson-defeats-jon-moxley\/\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The history between Danielson and Moxley runs deep, as you can read about in <strong>Laci Shlatz\u2019s<\/strong> overview<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/10\/06\/aew-wrestledream-2024-history-between-bryan-danielson-and-jon-moxley\/\" target=\"_self\"> here<\/a>. These two have wrestled each other in singles competitions since 2007.<\/p>\n<p>This is their third (and appears final) match against each other in AEW. We have seen viciousness and mercilessness between these two before.<\/p>\n<p>How far will both men go?
