However, if a new title is introduced, the company needs to invest time and energy in the stories surrounding it to make it more than just a mid-card title.

While that is technically what it would be, the women need to be able to give the championship more meaning to get the fans invested as well. It would be cool to see the women get their version of the United States or Intercontinental Championship.

Considering there is already a lot of crossover between the NXT women’s roster and the main roster, it would be interesting to see this title involved with both all three shows under the WWE banner. This would expand the competition for the title and bring never-before-seen matches showcasing new and upcoming talent.

If the title were also involved in NXT, this would help put more eyes on the new stars who will be the company’s future. This would also help bring consistent viewership to both shows when fans look forward to those segments.

What Not To Do

If WWE would instead test the idea of a new championship before committing to one, they should start including the NXT Women’s North American Championship on the main roster and test how the fans respond. I could see another championship failing if they don’t try to make it legitimate.

For example, the 24/7 championship was a comedic and entertaining segment. However, overall, it didn’t mean too much winning the championship.

This ultimately led to the title being retired. Now, there is a WWE Speed Championship, and unfortunately, the championship may also have a quick run.

It is an exciting concept but having consistently three-minute and five-minute matches can get frustrating, especially when the competitors in this match are all very talented. They deserve more than five minutes to show that.

The Women’s Evolution started in the company because there were too many short matches for women.

TODAY on #WWESpeed!

It’s @Iyo_SkyWWE vs. Naomi in the #WWESpeed Semifinals. Since the men’s Speed Championship was created in February 2024, I have not heard much about it.

Introducing one for the women won’t be much different. If they retire that title and put more time and energy into a new championship, it can help create more stories that fans actually want to see.

Ideas For the Championship

As I mentioned, I think this title should be equivalent to the men’s United States Championship or Intercontinental Championship, whether that means simply creating a Women’s Intercontinental Championship or creating a new title and holding it to that level of prestige. It would be interesting to see someone like Green or Piper Niven become this new champion and get that push that fans want to see.

If the title switches between NXT and the main roster, it would be cool to see either Roxanne Perez or Cora Jade hold the title, especially considering they must make their permanent main roster debut soon. Even if Giulia won, it would be a great first title for her before winning the NXT or WWE Women’s Championship.

A new women’s championship could do so much, but will they invest the time and energy into creating one?

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
