The feuds have been hot enough to justify its return, and there are truly five possible endings for WWE Bad Blood.

The short card still needs to confirm its main event. Even when it does inevitably get out, the card is subject to change. All of the announced matches could feasibly end the show.

It is a testament to the recent bookings on Raw and SmackDown as WWE has hit its stride once again. Whichever match ends the show, WWE is likely to leave fans with a huge surprise.

CM Punk Goes to Hell and Back

This match is very likely the main event of the night, perhaps the smartest of the possible endings for WWE Bad Blood. If CM Punk and Drew McIntyre don’t close out the show in their Hell in a Cell bout, then expect something jaw-dropping to happen in its place.

The feud between McIntyre and Punk is a picture-perfect rivalry for “bad blood” to feature.

That match is also the only one currently slated for a cell, though not the only one that could be. CM Punk lost the last match, so to get them into a best-of-three scenario, he most likely needs the win here. He will need to work for it, though.

This has always been good vs. evil pic.twitter.com/iPOzWaEzqE

— Drew (@DMcIntyreWWE) September 24, 2024

If this match closes the show, it could end with Seth Rollins returning to confront CM Punk, but that probably isn’t happening just yet. No, instead, the big ending to the night will feature a spot, not a superstar.

Both McIntyre and Punk are going to be putting themselves through a blood bath. It may not match the AEW matches

Punk had with MJF, but it will probably be as close as WWE is willing to get. To end a brutal match, somebody goes through the cell. This isn’t off the side or even off the top.

Once Drew Claymores, the second city saint, through the cell, fans should wait with baited breaths for a GTS to send him crashing back to the mat through the chain link.

The Wyatt Sicks Judge Finn Balor

Finn Balor and Damian Priest are set to battle from a brother-versus-brother angle. The former Universal Champion Balor betrayed the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Priest, and the intensity has ratcheted up since then.

Without a stipulation, this match has very little chance of being the main event.

However, if WWE had (or eventually will have) the inclination to put this match in a cage as well, it could easily close out that card.

If WWE did end it with the Judgment Day clash, a run-in from Carlito and JD McDonagh would be a given. A save from the LWO, though, would be repetitive and not a strong closing angle.

Message for: @FinnBalor

From: @ArcherOfInfamy pic.twitter.com/4BUrAVA6u5

— WWE (@WWE) August 6, 2024

Instead, if this match ends up in the main event, or even if it doesn’t, The Wyatt Sicks would be the big hook for fans. Bo Dallas and the company have not had a PLE match yet.

That is odd for an attraction-style act. Feuding with somebody who has a long history with Bray Wyatt is also something fans are expecting soon.

Most importantly, though, if Finn and his lackeys go and beat down the man they once called a brother, I can’t think of a better time for WWE’s version of the Dark Avengers to strike.

Dominik Falls for Liv Morgan

It seems rather ridiculous that the WWE authority figures are trying to sell that the only way to keep Dominik Mysterio out of this match is via a suspended shark cage. A non-suspended one would be even sillier, so it isn’t being considered for this.

This match can and should be a Hell in a Cell match.

This is both a personal feud and a fight for the top title in the division. It is almost impossible not to assume this would be a featured cell match on the card. It is an indictment of how the story is being presented. Assuming it’s not, then it has no chance of being in the main event.

If, for some reason, it is one of the possible endings for WWE Bad Blood, they will need to execute a particularly daring feat. Probably, Liv Morgan retains here, though not a sure thing.

If Rhea Ripley does win, then she needs to dispatch her true enemy, Dominik, as well. Sending the entire shark cage crashing down “on top” of Liv would be an incredible visual stunt.

If Liv does retain, though, it should be for the exact same reason. With the title on the line and the show almost over, Dirty Dom tries to escape his cage to help Morgan.

When he can’t, and Rhea is closing in on the victory, Dom does the only thing he can: detaches his own cage from the cable and crashes down into the mat.

A stunned Ripley and Referee will both be distracted. That is all the time Morgan needs to floor Rhea with the belt in the back and retain. Fans would get a memorable moment, and Dom’s status as a master of interference will remain unbeaten.

The Imperium Implodes

Gunther has yet to accept Sami Zayn’s challenge for a world title match. It is looking increasingly likely that he won’t, which would be a really bad look for his title run. In general, the shorter WWE shows are creating some friction with fans.

Putting big matches on the go-home or aftermath shows hasn’t caught on with fans, and there are glaring inequities in the current PLE booking. The world champion is missing, though; that is inexcusable.

This match is the most likely addition to the card, and in a cage, it could even be the main event. If Gunther and Zayn did get a match to close the show, then something would have to happen that changes the paradigm of the division and makes the world title WWE almost forgot exciting again.

WWE should call back to the early days of the match type with an angry Bron Breakker dismantling the cage to interfere. He is fresh off a dominant run, and now we know he can take a loss.

More importantly, Gunther calls for Ludwig Kaiser for assistance, and a rightfully scared Ludwig refuses and leaves his boss to a beatdown.

Inserting Bron into the picture is smart. Zayn beat Gunther, and Bron beat Zayn, so it is logical he would see himself as more worthy of that spot. His tearing through the cage and Ludwig’s defection would probably get considerable buzz as well heading into Raw.

The Final Boss Closes the Show

In possible endings for WWE Bad Blood, this show has got to be among the other top options. While CM Punk and Drew have arguably earned it, you don’t book Roman Reigns anywhere but the main event.

He and his greatest rival (debatably) Cody Rhodes are teaming up to take out the new Bloodline.

The chances that this match ends the beef they are having is approximately zero. Without the cage stipulation, it is pretty easy to make this match end in a no-contest or double-countout.

That would leave a bad taste in a lot of fans’ mouths, especially with McIntyre and Punk doing the exact opposite earlier.

If they close the show with this match, then our unlikely team of heroes needs to win. From there, WWE has a few angles that could be in store for fans. The first is that Roman takes back the Bloodline from Solo, wresting control back and immediately targeting Cody Rhodes again for a three-peat at the Survivor Series show.

Realistically, this is sort of boring for a big surprise. Roman still has too many other face moves to make before he goes for Rhodes again.

Instead, the new Tribal Chief could emerge not as Roman but as The Rock instead. If The Rock returns and attacks the new alliance, the crowd will come unglued. It could also set up a match at Survivor Series, the show he debuted on when he started in WWE.

Rocky’s return will get everyone talking, a home run for a closing angle.

Favorite Prediction of Possible Endings for WWE Bad Blood

Online, fan sentiment about who should play the main event and the possible endings for WWE Bad Blood is split significantly. The two main camps now, post-shark cage announcement, are for either The Bloodline vs. The Rivals or CM Punk and Drew McIntyre.

There are also a lot of rumors on social media indicating that WWE is listening to fans in person, on those apps, or on TV to determine the main event. That means any of them could get the top spot.

Betting on The Rock to show up, even for a Survivor Series, is foolish. Without him, though, Punk and McIntyre would be the clear choice. They embody the bad blood of the event’s namesake so well that it feels like the show was made for their feud.

You don’t ignore when branding and your product mix so well.

More From LWOS Pro Wrestling

Header photo – WWE – Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
